00:00The Pakistan attack is a fully pace-oriented attack and as a fast bowler who has done well
00:17against India, how much of that mindset you are trying to bring into the team right now?
00:23And you have produced one of the best spells against India here, getting a hat-trick. So
00:29what kind of that mindset you are trying to inculcate into the team today?
00:35I have heard a lot of options and discussions going on. Other teams have too many spinners
00:45and we have lesser spinning options. You know the teams play their game on their own strength.
00:54We have like specialist three, I would say one of the best pace bowling options even
01:04today's game with Shaheen, Naseem and Haris. It reminds me of that 90s trike. So I think
01:16reaching at that level still they have time but they have all the ability to repeat those
01:23sort of performances. So pretty much confident and I think when you play against India, it's
01:33a special feeling and I think they will bring something very special tomorrow.
01:40Aki Bhai, Assalam-o-Alaikum. This is Abdullah from Gulf Today here. Aki Bhai, you have lost
01:47your first match and of course you are under enormous pressure because tomorrow's game
01:51is like a knockout and that too against India. So what kind of pressure you are feeling right
01:56now being the host and on the edge?
02:00There is no game you can say you play without pressure. The first game we lost, New Zealand
02:09is being a very strong team, they have good balance and it doesn't make any difference.
02:18After losing a game there is another good chance for you to win and win the third one
02:24and make it to the semis. Against India and Pakistan it doesn't matter. It's a knockout
02:31or whatever. It's beyond game and that's the beauty of India-Pakistan cricket. And if you
02:39look at the positive, I think that is the best time and best chance for any individual
02:45or a team to make a mark. We used to love it and all the players are waiting for the
02:53opportunity to rise and rise above the bar.
03:02Just wanted to know from you that since India have already played one game on that page
03:07which is looking unusually slow and you guys will be playing for the first time on this
03:11tournament. How do you see this situation? Do you see an extra added advantage for India
03:17because they have played one game on this page?
03:20Not at all because if you look at all the Pakistani players they have been playing leagues
03:29here. They were like PSL played here. So it's nothing really and the conditions everybody
03:36knows and I don't think there is any advantage and disadvantage.
03:59But as far as you are saying that India has a plan to play 3-4 spinners. So that is their
04:28plan. We have to play our cricket on our own strength. So our team, you won't see many
04:36changes. We have selected a team which we believe in and we will back it. If our fast
04:48bowling options are the best and they are match winners then it's not necessary that
04:55you start doing what the other team is doing.
05:25So tomorrow there won't be as much pressure on Pakistan as there will be on India.
05:30Because Pakistan has lost one match whereas India has to save their tournament.
05:35Do you think that in the last match of Bangladesh vs India, the pitch was a bit slow in the
05:41second session. So is there going to be any difference in the second session batting?
05:47Pressure is there to do well and if it doesn't go well then what will happen. So these are
05:59the thoughts before and after the match. Right now we are all guessing what will happen
06:07in this match. This is the beauty of it. Nobody knows anything. So in the same way
06:14taking pressure is the job of the players. If you take away the pressure then what's
06:20left in the Pakistan India game. You need passion and pressure to show your performance
06:29to the players. If you look at the pitch, if you study the whole match, there was a
06:39slight turn, there was a seam in the ball and it was good for batting as well.
06:46So it's a very balanced supporting pitch.
06:55How big a setback is it for Fakhar to go out and between Imam and Usman will it be a tricky
07:02call as far as picking Babbar's partner at the top?
07:07There is no doubt Fakhar is a match winner. Every team actually misses their match winners.
07:17But you can't depend on only one player. We will still place a good strong team and try to win
07:30and try to play good positive cricket.
07:34Since you took charge, Pakistan has been showing its home series with its fastballing strength.
07:40Aqib Javed came and he defeated the teams with a spin track.
07:44We are playing this tournament in home conditions. How did Aqib Javed's spin strength
07:51come back in fastballing? I want to understand this.
07:54The other teams that are visiting Pakistan, Pakistan is coming with 4 spinners.
07:59Pakistan is going with only one specialist. Can you comment on this?
08:06We were hosting India and we are playing in Dubai.
08:10If you were playing in Lahore, would the condition of the Pakistan team be different?
08:15The morale is different.
08:17You can play anywhere, even if you take the crowd out of the stadium.
08:26The Pakistan-India game will have the same spirit.
08:29This is the beauty of it.
08:31The crowd supports you when you play well.
08:40When you play badly, whether it is India or Pakistan, the crowd starts speaking against you.
08:47You should not keep the crowd in your mind as a player.
08:51You should not keep the crowd in your mind.
08:55Your focus should be on the ball and the bat.
08:58That's it.
09:00In the test matches, we were lagging a little.
09:11The bowlers were not able to make long spells and take wickets.
09:18When the England team came, our best option was to make spin pitches and get the spinners to play.
09:28When the West Indies team came, spin pitches were ideal against them.
09:33They don't play spin as well as the other subcontinental teams.
09:40You should have a sense.
09:42In one-day cricket, if you look at their playing 11, Australia, England and New Zealand are playing.
09:54You have one specialist spinner and two all-rounders.
10:00In Pakistan, you have one specialist spinner and two all-rounders.
10:08In Pakistan, you have one left-armer and one off-spinner.
10:13You have to keep a balance of 20 overs, 25 overs, pace and bounce.
10:19It is not possible to get 5 spinners to play.
10:23You will not see such pitches where the ball is being turned.
10:30There is a lot for spinners and nothing for fast bowlers.
10:39When you were here, you not only transformed the U19s but also the U19s.
10:55What advice did you give to the younger players on how to handle this big stage?
11:00Your environment is very important.
11:04If you are comfortable, if you tell them this is a game and pressure will be there
11:10but this is what it is when it comes to India and Pakistan.
11:13Go out there and showcase your talent and forget about the results afterwards and before.
11:20If you have these two things in your mind, you can make the game difficult by pre-planning.
11:28If you are afraid of losing, nothing will happen.
11:32You have to play cricket with courage.
11:34Everyone will understand the result after 8 hours.
11:41Pakistan lost the series on their home ground and we lost our first match.
11:47But India-Pakistan match is such that if we win, all the previous stains will be washed away.
11:54Will our team understand that if we win, we will qualify for the next round?
12:02What is the morale of the team?
12:06You are the journalists who write that the stains have been washed away.
12:12These are the professions of the cricketers and it is an honour for them.
12:19But at the same time, this is their profession.
12:22You try your best and you lose a series.
12:28What difference does it make if you win a match or not?
12:35What will be the pressure?
12:37Every game is different.
12:39India-Pakistan match can be won or lost, but it cannot change the beauty of India-Pakistan match.
12:53You used the word courage.
12:57When you played in the 90s, you used to see courage and innovation.
13:01In Asia, it was said that the Pakistan team was ahead of its time.
13:04But look at this team.
13:06Even in the T20 era, it seems that they are playing very old cricket.
13:10How difficult is this as a coach?
13:14It's all about thinking.
13:17How do you think and create an environment?
13:21We have to see if this pitch is the same as those in Pakistan or is it different?
13:35We will play according to the pitch, conditions and team.
13:40Is it necessary to start playing in the T20 era?
13:46If you ask me, 50 overs cricket has become very challenging.
13:55After 35-40 overs, the fitness level of the team will have to improve.
14:05If your focus is on T20, you will not be able to play more than 30 overs.
14:19Fitness is the biggest challenge.
14:23In Test cricket, you play for 2 hours, then lunch break and then tea break.
14:30You have to be on the ground for 3.5 hours and more.
14:36You have to be focused. It's a fast game.
14:39I think fitness is the key.
14:42You just praised Pakistan's fast bowlers and reminded us of the 90s.
14:50You don't think Pakistan is losing because of fast bowlers.
14:5680 runs, 70 runs, 60 runs, 85 in 5 overs, 90 in 7 overs.
15:02You don't think the match is lost.
15:05Has there been a discussion on how to give fewer runs in the last overs?
15:10When you watch a match, you focus on the match.
15:15If your average score is 320-350, then you focus on one or two bowlers.
15:28How did they give more than 60 or 70 runs?
15:32At times, you don't get such conditions.
15:37Everyone is realizing the fitness in 50 overs.
15:44Everyone will have to improve.
15:47I don't think if you score 80 runs in one match, it's the 90s.
15:53When we scored 60 runs, we didn't have peace for 6 months.
15:57This is a fast game. If you score 350 runs, you can score 70-80 runs.
16:04But tomorrow's game will be different.
16:10We can't see what to do.
16:15Every game starts differently and finishes differently.
