00:00Neil, a hard-fought 1-0 win against Solihull Moors, definitely the better side in the first half and then really solid in that second half and saw the game out well then.
00:12Yeah, I agree. It didn't start well. I think we got caught, so many players not quite knowing who to press where and what not, and they got down our left side quite a bit and put a few crosses in.
00:24So we changed shape, we realised that they were pressing us, the pitch was difficult and we wanted to put two centre-forwards on at that point, so we pushed both Junior and Ine out and played two up.
00:35And I thought from that moment on, and credit to myself and Simon, I don't give myself credit that often, but we made a change that helped the players and for the next 15-20 minutes we scored, we were the better team and then I think they changed their shape.
00:48And I think at that moment we were the better team in the first half. They've obviously, Wills, had to make a great save which hit the bar, but that's the only save he's had.
00:57And that shows how well the team from the front, the work ethic, the wide players, doubling up, the centre-forwards trying to press and Walks are sprinting across here to make a tackle to stop the ball going forward.
01:09So's Ine, so's Junior, they've sat in on sixes, they've worked across the pitch and the back four and the goalie have been immense.
01:16So that's what's got us the clean sheet and that's what's meant that Solihull never really had a shot at goal in the second half.
01:22Yeah, it was a real team effort for that clean sheet, wasn't it? As you say, Will, a pretty quiet night really for him, wasn't it?
01:28Yeah, but he still had to come for some good catches, he still had to kick well when we needed him to.
01:33So, yeah, it wasn't a good spectacle. It was painful to watch at times, I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, but both teams struggled on the pitch and we had to change the way we've been playing lately to dig out a result.
01:49Yeah, I mean, obviously the pitch is what it is, but you sort of adapted and done what's obviously necessary to get the result, haven't you?
01:55Yeah, Tamworth came the other day and sat in on us and we had to try and work some solutions to break them down.
02:01Today they came and pressed high and we didn't solve it early, so we put the second forward up and then we did and that was what it was about.
02:08But then there's more turnovers because you're having to play forward a bit quicker and from that moment on the game become a little bit scrappy.
02:15But like you say, if it is scrappy and you're not getting your game going, going forward, then you make sure that they don't have any chances and that's what we did.
02:23Yeah, and lovely header from Matt Ward for the goal and that was part of the real bright spell in the game.
02:29Yeah, that's after we changed shape. The second forward helped us cause them a problem and Wardy was causing them problems down this side of the pitch and in the end they've had to adapt and they've changed shape to try and get a foothold in the game.
02:41So both managers have had to do that. It is what it is and as a team we've come away with the three points.
02:48Half-time 1-0 up, what was the message going into that second half?
02:50Just try and get a second. You know, we've conceded some late goals and lost some leads. So we just said, let's keep going, try and get the second.
02:58Don't sink in if you can help it, but obviously the pitch don't help with that.
03:02And both teams just felt the game kept getting turned over and neither team really had an attacking threat.
03:08It was a bit huff and puff, but both teams worked hard without the ball.
03:13So yeah, there have been a couple of draws with equalisers, but you saw it out really well today and really solid throughout really, wasn't it?
03:19Yeah, like you say, Will's had one save on the bar and it's a good one. A couple of catches, that's it and that's what a 1-0 is all about.
03:26Jakob missing, a bit of illness around?
03:29Yeah, Harry's been ill for two days and Jakob phoned me this morning feeling rough, so we told him to stay in bed.
03:35Like you say, we've had five games in 14 days. It's been a tough schedule. We've got one more to go.
03:42We've managed to get seven points out of the four, so we've done well considering York away and Dagenham away.
03:48And now we've got a really tough one and we look forward to it.
03:51Yeah, obviously it's going to be a quick turnaround to Forest Green on Saturday and they're flying.
03:55They've obviously got the 24-hour advantage, haven't they?
03:58But like you say, a quick turnaround and get yourselves ready and look forward to that.
04:02Yeah, I don't like Wednesdays and Saturdays. It's not long enough.
04:05There'll still be a lot of fatigue. So again, expect some rotation, I'm sure.
04:09We'll have to freshen it up in some areas where we can, but we'll count the bodies over the next couple of days
04:14and then we'll do our best to put in an energetic performance on Saturday.
04:18That's obviously now just one defeat in 13, so the good run really keeps going, doesn't it?
04:23Yeah, again, lads need all the credit. Me and Bas try and keep them focused, keep them enjoying their football,
04:30keep them with some structure, keep the training fun, keep them coming in every day.
04:34They're looking forward to that and they have to go out on the pitch and deliver.
04:37At the moment, they are and they're probably exceeding what they thought they could do two months ago.
04:43And that's great. Let's keep it going and drive it home for the remainder of the season.
04:48And you'll want the 50 points, but obviously that's 38 now and eight clear.
04:53So just keep working away?
04:55Yeah, just get past 50 first and then we'll worry about anything else after.
