00:00Senate President Ches Escudero said that it's good that the impeachment trial did not start with Vice President Sara Duterte so that the Supreme Court can resolve the various petitions.

00:11However, VP Duterte insisted that the impeachment trial should be stopped.

00:20Two weeks after the impeachment of the camera, Vice President Sara Duterte slept in the Supreme Court.

00:29She asked for the impeachment trial to be stopped against her through a temporary restraining order or writ of preliminary injunction.

00:37Every time Vice President Duterte slept, there was grave abuse of discretion of the camera.

00:42In the petition filed, it was stated that there cannot be more than one impeachment proceeding against an official within a year.

00:51The camera was intended to circulate the one-year ban on the four impeachment complaints filed in February,

00:57while the three other impeachment complaints were filed in December.

01:02This is so that the camera can spread a sufficient number of signatures before the election of 2025 because the composition of the camera will be changed.

01:11Respondent to the camera's petition led by Speaker Martin Numualdez,

01:15his Secretary General, and the Senate under the leadership of Senate President Francis Escudero,

01:21as well as the lawyers of Vice who signed the petition, his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

01:28The former president will only receive his mandatory continuing legal education exemption,

01:34which is a requirement for the continued practice as a lawyer.

01:38Even though a new on-bank session was held, according to the Supreme Court,

01:42the petition of Vice was no longer included in the agenda of the magistrates,

01:46as well as another petition that also requests the suspension of the impeachment trial.

01:51The petition is expected to be raffled first before it can be included in the agenda of the next on-bank session.

01:58According to the leaders of the Senate, they referred this matter to the Solicitor General for them to answer.

02:04Speaker Numualdez and House Secretary General Reginald Velasco have yet to respond.

02:10One of the impeachment prosecutors, who has no basis for the Supreme Court to issue a TRO, is indignant.

02:17He also denied the allegation of not studying and delayed the fourth impeachment complaint.

02:23It's not railroaded because since the three impeachment complaints were filed back in 2024, last year,

02:31we already had an individual evaluation of these impeachment complaints.

02:38Impeachment prosecutor Lawrence Defensor believes that the impeachment is a political question and the Supreme Court has no knowledge of it.

02:47In the midst of different petitions in the Supreme Court, Senate President Chief Escudero said,

02:52It's providential that we were not able to proceed with the trial because we recessed so that all of these things can be submitted to the Supreme Court,

03:01the Supreme Court can pass it so that there will be no delay or delay in the trial of the Senate on these kinds of technicalities or issues.

03:11Escudero is referring to the Senate Committee on Rules and Legal Team the letters to him for him to study.

03:18Escudero said that it will take 40 days to submit the pleadings to each camp before the pre-trial starts.
