00:00The Senate is now preparing for the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte,

00:05according to Senate President Francis Chief Escudero.

00:27This is what Senate President Francis Chief Escudero said at a press conference in Quezon City this Wednesday,

00:34regarding the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:38Escudero said that the equipment and the system for the impeachment trial are being prepared

00:45and that there are also possible changes to the House Rules on Impeachment.

00:50Yes, we are already looking for a supplier, we are already canvassing for the ropes.

00:55We are fixing the system for the visitors, the ID of the travelers,

01:03because they will go there every day.

01:06They are already employed by the Senate so that they will not lag behind.

01:09And also for the visitors who might want to watch the live broadcast in the Senate,

01:18Despite this, the impeachment trial cannot start

01:22until the 28th Congress is opened

01:26and until the 12 newly elected senators are seated.

01:31The Senate President instructed the Office of the Solicitor General

01:35to comment on the petition to the Supreme Court

01:38for the immediate start of the impeachment trial,

01:41while also not asking for a special session from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:48Escudero responded to the petition sent by Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel

01:54and the position paper of Bayan Muna,

01:56a fellow who called for the immediate start of the Senate impeachment complaint.
