00:00The Philippine Handball Team is now back in the Philippines after winning the Gintong and Tansong Medalya

00:05at the 2025 Southeast Asian Beach Championship in Thailand.

00:09You know that it was the campaign of the country that won the tournament

00:12in the memory of my teammate, Bernadette Inoy.

00:16After the successful campaign of the Philippine Beach Handball Team in 2025,

00:21Southeast Asian Beach Handball Championships were held in Thailand

00:25where the men's team won the Gintong Medalya and the women's team won the Tansong Medalya.

00:30For Rafael Andrew Agtarap, they did not expect to get the top spot,

00:34especially since they only practiced twice for the Beach Handball.

00:38They also gave more time for the indoor tournament

00:41as a preparation for the upcoming 2025 Southeast Asian or SEA Games.

00:46First, we've been aiming for a long time to go to the SEA Cup in Southeast Asia.

00:51Second, even though our preparation was short, we still got the gold medal.

00:56We had no emotions when we entered the Beach Handball Tournament

00:59because we came from the last place and then we have to play the Beach Handball

01:04considering the status of our body, we lost one player.

01:08So, we are so grateful and thankful that we really won.

01:12Rafael added that it was not easy for them to practice

01:16and because they finished practicing,

01:19they immediately joined the Beach Handball event.

01:23The indoor tournament is one hour long.

01:25So, we played four games.

01:27And then one day rest and then Beach Tournament.

01:30So, that was the challenge for us.

01:33Our body was so tired, our knees were broken,

01:37one of us got injured, we had a meniscus tear.

01:39So, to the point that we are not confident that our body is 100% healthy

01:44to enter the Beach Tournament.

01:46But we know that's our strength, the Beach Handball.

01:51According to Coach Gabriel de Guzman,

01:53the line-up of the national team in the indoor and beach event is the same.

01:57That's why they prepared twice for the next tournament.

02:01Starting this week, we will resume training for Beach Handball.

02:05But also, we will not let our training for Indoor Handball go to waste

02:09because of course, the skills that they developed throughout the months will go to waste.

02:13And of course, our preparations for Strength and Conditioning,

02:16if you're wondering why it took 12 days in Thailand,

02:20it's because of the work of our Strength and Conditioning.

02:22Coach Marv de Buzay and I just mentioned it.

02:25So, that's how they lived their longevity in that tournament.
