00:00Mr Speaker, the Conservative government established the Ukraine family scheme
00:04and in total over 200,000 Ukrainians, mostly women, children and the elderly,
00:11have found sanctuary in the UK from Putin's rule.
00:14However, a family of six from Gaza have applied to live in Britain using this scheme
00:22and a judge has now ruled in their favour.
00:25This is not what the scheme was designed to do.
00:29This decision is completely wrong.
00:31It cannot be allowed to stand.
00:34Is the government planning to appeal on any points of law?
00:37And if so, which ones?
00:40Minister, Mr Speaker, let me be clear.
00:41I do not agree with the decision.
00:43She's right, it's the wrong decision.
00:45She hasn't quite done her homework because the decision in question
00:50was taken under the last government,
00:53according to the legal framework of the last government.
00:56But Mr Speaker, let me be clear.
00:58It should be Parliament that makes the rules on immigration.
01:01It should be the government that makes the policy.
01:04That is the principle and the Home Secretary is already looking
01:07at the legal loophole which we need to close in this particular case.
