00:04Sir Keir Starmer will travel to Washington next week for talks with US
00:08President Donald Trump. It's thought the Prime Minister will seek to deepen the
00:13special relationship on his first visit to DC since Trump's inauguration with
00:19the wars in Israel and Ukraine likely to be on the agenda. Starmer was in Paris
00:25earlier today and described the European summit as a once-in-a-generation moment
00:30for national security. Here's what he had to say. We're facing a generational
00:37challenge when it comes to national security. Obviously the immediate
00:43question is the future of Ukraine and we must continue to put Ukraine in the
00:47strongest possible position whatever happens next and to make sure that if
00:52there is peace and we all want peace that it is lasting. I think there's a
00:58bigger piece here as well which is that this isn't just about the front line in
01:04Ukraine it's the front line of Europe and of the United Kingdom it's about our
01:07national security and I think that we need to do more we need to step up.
