**Shakira Cancels Peru Concert Following Hospital Admission**
Colombian pop superstar Shakira has canceled her concert in Lima, Peru, after being admitted to the hospital due to an abdominal issue.
According to her Instagram post on Sunday, Shakira was taken to the emergency room where doctors advised that she was not in a good enough condition to perform that evening. "The doctors who are currently caring for me have communicated that I am not well enough to perform tonight," she explained.
Expressing her regret over the cancellation, Shakira said she was deeply saddened to miss the opportunity to reunite with her incredible fans in Peru. She also reassured fans that her team and the promoters are already working to set a new date for the performance.
This incident comes as Shakira is in the midst of her global tour, "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" ("Women Don’t Cry Anymore"), which has seen her performing in various Latin American countries. The tour is set to continue with a U.S. leg starting on May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Despite her massive popularity as one of the most influential Latin American recording artists of the early 21st century, Shakira has not been without controversy in recent years. In November 2023, she settled a tax evasion lawsuit with Spanish authorities. The Grammy-winning singer admitted to the charges and agreed to pay the full amount owed, along with additional fines. According to the Barcelona prosecutor’s office, she paid a total of €17.5 million (approximately $19 million) in taxes, interest, and fines, including an extra penalty of €7.3 million (around $8 million).
