00:00I feel, I feel like I'm back in the space that I belong.
00:08How does it feel to be a part of a project again?
00:12Oh, exhilarating. I feel, I feel like I'm back in the space that I belong.
00:20Quite a long wait for a self-imposed sabbatical.
00:24But I'm happy that I said yes to this film first.
00:27And this was the reason I had, you know, waited for so long.
00:31And it's well worth the wait.
00:32All those people who have missed me or miss seeing me on the big screen
00:36will enjoy watching me in this avatar.
00:39I really hope I've done them justice and done the character justice.
00:42She's a very strong character, Avani.
00:45The character that I've portrayed in Nikamma.
00:49Really strong, a woman in power.
00:52I don't, you know, people are misconstruing the trailer
00:55to look like as if it, they think I'm playing some kind of superpower,
01:00a superwoman and all of that.
01:02But no, I mean, she is a woman in power and she's super good at it.
01:07I just think it's such a well-etched role for me
01:11that while she's really a tough nut to crack at work,
01:15she is just a simpleton at home.
01:20And she's so family-oriented.
01:22It's so warm and such a giver.
01:25Which is pretty much how most women are, you know,
01:29and are conditioned to be like that.
01:31The other really important bit that I want to make a mention of is that
01:35I mean, for me, Nikamma is a very important film
01:40and holds a very special place for the sheer fact that
01:42it's the film that I'm going to, you know, show as a showreel to my son.
01:49And really, I mean, I introduced myself as an actor to him.
01:53He's 10 and he's never watched me doing my thing.
01:58So, yesterday he saw the film and he was like so proud of me
02:02and there was like a reversal of roles.
02:05And where he turned around and he said to me that,
02:07you know, Mom, I'm so proud of you.
02:09And oh my God, you're my favourite actor.
02:12I mean, that for me was music to my ears.
02:14And I mean, I really felt like I hit a home run yesterday.
02:18Can women have it all?
02:19That's always the debate when we think of Wonder Women.
02:22In today's context, if you look at a woman.
02:24It depends on what that really means because
02:27satisfaction is really something that you decide on
02:31and success is what is decided by other people.
02:33So, it really depends on what you really want.
02:35Do you really want to appease everyone else or yourself?
02:40And I have done stuff that really satisfies me.
02:45There have been a lot of things I've said no to
02:49and there have been more no's than yeses
02:51to make the brand that I've made of, you know,
02:55my position and whatever I leverage my name to.
02:59For me, it's to strike that balance with family and,
03:03you know, going out there and being a thorough professional.
03:06You have to just give it your 100%.
03:08And if you decide to do it, let me tell you,
03:11it's not going to be a mean task.
03:14It's not going to be an easy task.
03:16It is a mean task, actually.
03:18But at the end of it all, I've been born and bred
03:23in a family where both my parents worked
03:27and those middle-class values are deep-seeped within me
03:31and I think my work ethics come from there.
03:34Seeing my parents work and I've turned out fine.
03:37So, I want my children to see that, you know,
03:39they have a working mom and understand the value of work
03:43and what we bring home.
03:45It's about prioritizing, compartmentalizing.
03:47So, yes, you can't have it all if you just decide it,
03:50if you decide to give it your all and do it guilt-free.
