00:00The year 2020 was unprecedented on several counts.
00:08On the humanitarian front, the UAE witnessed extraordinary efforts by various community
00:12groups and individuals who banded together to help their fellow beings during the COVID-19
00:18pandemic.
00:19Whether it was to help stranded people with food or to arrange repatriation flights for
00:23those who wanted to fly home due to various reasons or to assist those in quarantine to
00:28get proper medical attention, social workers and community groups were at the forefront
00:33of every humanitarian effort amid the pandemic.
00:36Many put their lives at risk and worked for those affected, cutting across nationalities
00:41and joined hands with the government entities in successfully containing the spread of coronavirus
00:46and minimizing the social impact of the pandemic.
00:49Gulf News has been publishing a series of heartwarming stories on how volunteering groups
00:53and individuals had their compatriots back cover during the most difficult times.
