00:00What do you hope this group accomplishes by the end of this summit tomorrow?
00:05There are so many questions about the direction that quote-unquote Hollywood is going right now.
00:12We're going to hopefully get some answers about that.
00:14I mean, there have been in my career, I've suffered through five strikes of different kinds in different branches of the business,
00:21and every strike has had a tremendously negative effect in the long run on the business.
00:27And we're just coming out of these last strikes, and it may be that we will discover some new direction tomorrow.
00:35I'm going to be hosting one talk with a bunch of showrunners about the direction they think the shows are going to be going,
00:43the TV shows are going to be going over the next decade or so.
00:48It's a big question.
00:50We're in a kind of fog right now in Hollywood.
00:54We don't know where we're going.
00:56And for you personally, why was it important for you to be here for this summit?
01:00Well, I've been involved with the Creative Coalition since its inception many, many years ago
01:05and have traveled with them over the world, around the world.
01:08And whenever I'm called upon by them, I show up.
01:12It's an extraordinary group, and our charter is to support the arts in whichever way we can.
01:19Right now, we're facing potential headwinds art-wise with the new administration.
01:25We're going to see where that goes as well, but it's quite possible that those headwinds will disappear
01:30and we'll have a nice ride over the next four years.
01:33You never know.
01:34What's your take on the way the arts have been in the headlines with the new administration
01:37and everything that's been happening with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts?
01:40Well, we'll see how that goes.
01:42I am somewhat surprised, if not shocked, by that turn of events.
01:48Actually, I'm not surprised, even though I was shocked when I heard about it.
01:54You know, I don't know.
01:57We're going to have to wait and see what happens with that one, won't we?
02:00Well, thank you so much.
