00:00Hours after our Wendy Williams documentary saving Wendy on to be dropped the wheels
00:07started to turn and
00:09Wendy took the first big step to end this guardianship by signing a very important document
00:16Right a document that officially puts her request to the judge. She signed an affidavit
00:21Requesting that this is that the guardianship be dissolved. This is her
00:28Making it official and sending it to the judge. It's the first step
00:32Has not been sent yet. Just been signed
00:34All right, it's been signed and in this document
00:37She says a couple of important things one is that she has regained her capacity
00:42That's an acknowledgement that a couple of years ago
00:45She did not have the capacity to take care of herself and this guardianship
00:49Frankly was appropriate a couple of years ago for two reasons the financial side
00:54And the personal side and on both counts she needed a guardianship the question has it changed
01:00I believe it has fundamentally changed
01:04This is Wendy Williams talking in the documentary. And I think if you watch the whole thing
01:10I think you're gonna reach the same conclusion. I did. I am NOT allowed to go out
01:15I can call you but you can't call me over the last say
01:2030 days
01:21How much time have you been able to spend outside in the fresh air
01:26In the last 30 days I went out
01:29Twice even people who are in prison for murder
01:34Get an hour a day outside and you've only been outside in fresh air twice in the last 30 days
01:43Yes, here's what the judge said in this case the guardian that's miss Morrissey is
01:49To permit Wendy as much independence as is practical
01:55This sounds more like a prison than independence
02:00Hell yeah
02:03Hell yeah, listen, this system has failed this system has failed from top to bottom regarding this guardian and
02:11everybody involved with
02:14The system has failed I want my freedom back
02:17So here's a big deal here that Wendy has been diagnosed with a condition called frontotemporal dementia
02:25The one thing that is clear about that condition. It never gets better. It is a
02:32Progressive
02:34condition
02:35Where you just deteriorate over time
02:38Wendy has gotten better. I think that part is undeniable
02:41So and that is I agree with you completely clear from a lot of different things that came up in your conversation with her
02:50and I think it's got to go a
02:54Long way with a judge that she is acknowledging that there was a problem, right? This isn't just her saying I
03:01Never should have been in here. This is ridiculous. I don't belong in here
03:05She's acknowledging that there was a problem and she's because she's saying I have regained
03:12I've regained that that ability that I've regained. Yeah, but here's the thing. Yeah, I think you're right on the surface
03:20Now overlay that with the fact that the judge and the Guardian have essentially
03:26sequestered her from the world
03:28Why is that? Why would they not allow her to receive calls? Why would they not allow?
03:34But if the Guardian is presenting and you tell me but if the Guardian is presenting to the judge
03:39a medical evaluation that says a diagnosis that she has frontotemporal dementia, right and
03:46Even there even there
03:48We we've talked about this that if she's not if she still has it together enough
03:53You don't need to put her in a facility, right?
03:56But even let's say that the judge sees that and says, all right, this is only gonna get worse
04:01So, let's put her in this facility
04:05That's one thing but now she is presenting to you
04:09Evidence and this documentary is evidence that she's better
04:14So, how do you ignore that as the judge and especially now that everyone has seen Wendy?
04:22And and heard Wendy like how can you just blatantly ignore what is clear to everyone's eyes?
04:28I'd love to say you're right, but I don't know. I don't know
04:32This this judge that so far has not been sympathetic to that
04:36Yeah, but it all comes down to this for me like there was a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. She now seems better
04:43So, how do we weigh that but ultimately and you've made this point many times Harvey. So what right?
04:49There's got to be a fight
04:50lots of people have dementia the vast vast vast majority of whom live their lives either on on their own or with
04:58Not locked down. They are able able to go as they please unless they are a physical danger to themselves or to others
05:05There's never been an allegation to my knowledge that Wendy Williams is a physical danger to herself or others
05:11This is not financial her financial that she has a guardianship. She's not
05:15Over our finances. She's not bucking up against that what she well, no, no, she's she just went spree
05:20She can get a financial advisor when she gets out if she gets out
05:25She can get that so she doesn't need that either as a guardianship, right?
05:29But ultimately what she wants right now is the ability to walk down the street and even assuming she has dementia
05:34Why can't she walk down the street? Well, that's the question Jason. Um, look she's gonna have another medical evaluation
05:42It is interesting. The guardians rep has said we don't expect it's gonna be any different
05:47In fact, we think it's getting worse
05:49And that's the weird part is that I've talked to her for hours on end for the last month or so as have others and
05:56I'm hearing the exact opposite of it's getting worse, but the Guardian saying it's getting worse
06:01That's why I'm saying there's this huge disconnect and I think that is interesting that she has spoken to so many people
06:06Is it the Guardian or the judge who does not want her doing interviews anymore?
06:11The judge the judges said no interviews were told and what's the reason for that?
06:17Good question. This doesn't need to be another Britney Spears situation
06:21This is too high-profile
06:22the media can get involved in this and they can help shed light on this like you guys are doing right now and I just
06:28Hope that she gets in front of the judge again and get
06:31Rediagnosed or at least a doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Yeah, I mean they're gonna do that
06:36They will have a reevaluation and like Jason said, I mean even if she has this
06:41Which seems weird to me if she's gotten so much better
06:45If she's able to care for herself, you know people who are diagnosed with Alzheimer's don't immediately go into a guardianship
06:51They're able to live freely until they can't Wendy it seems can
