00:00My grandfather was here almost in the early fifties.
00:10At that time, my grandfather called my father also, after a year or two.
00:17So after 2-3 years, my father also opened the business in 1960 in Al-Fahidi street.
00:25The business was started in 1960. For 20 years, he was there in Al-Fahidi street, in that area only.
00:32So when he moved to Satwa, after a year opening a shop in Satwa, my father died at the age of 44.
00:41So I joined my father's business. I did not study. I joined my father's business at the age of 13.
00:47And within 2 years, there were 2 staff only, or 2 employees with me.
00:51At the age of 15, I just had everything, knowledge about the stitching, and taking measurements from customers, and explaining them everything else.
01:03But as the time passed, and I took over the business, I just concentrated on Kandura itself.
01:12The time passed, and I grew up with my business itself. I just started having more shops in Satwa itself.
01:23Me and my brother are equally partners in that shop. We have 3 establishments right now, and around 22 employees are with us.
01:36Business like the head of Ramzan, before 2 and a half months, we are fully prepared. We don't waste time, actually.
01:44Only we just see that how the business, we can have it more and perfectly, and the time we can give to our customers.
01:53In UAE, mostly, even the locals or Emiratis, they prefer to wear this Emirati Kandura.
02:04It's generally with the stitching, you know, on the side of itself, which comes with this Tarboosh.
02:14This is a traditional rope they wear with this. Without this Tarboosh, the Emirati Kandura is not complete.
02:27So generally, there is a stitching, and there is the V on the front side, and there is a V on the back side also.
02:36It's hard to make an Emirati Kandura. It takes time for a perfect stitching, and the stitching runs around the neck and the front side.
02:45It takes almost 4 and a half hours to make this Emirati Kandura completely by one person.
02:53Generally, in Dubai, mostly people wear Emirati Kanduras.
02:57All my family, my children, they are coming here to make the Kandura for Eid, and after Eid also for schools.
03:06My grandchildren also, they are coming here now. So we are like a family member with Mr. Manoj.
03:23Eid Mubarak!
