00:00Hello from glorious Dubai harbour. I'm Imran Malik, assistant editor at Gulf News. I'm here
00:16to check out the Dubai International Motor Show which has been rebranded and is now called
00:20No Filter DXB. Now I know what you're thinking. This is the venue for the boat show. Shouldn't
00:30the motor show be at the Dubai World Trade Center? Well, in this ever-changing world
00:34of ours because of COVID, motor shows have to change as well. They're trying to remain
00:39relevant. So the Dubai Motor Show has now morphed into an outdoor urban lifestyle festival.
00:46There are loads of new cars, classic cars, motorbikes, and stunt shows. But aside from
00:52that, there's art exhibitions, fashion, and sports. So let's go and check it all out.
01:17Almost every car maker is desperate to join the luxury SUV craze, and the latest to join
01:23the party is Aston Martin with the DBX. It's an all-terrain vehicle that retains the pizzazz
01:29and glamour of its sports car stablemates. Inside the classy interior, it has a 12.1-inch
01:36digital display behind the steering wheel and a 10-inch multimedia touchscreen. It has
01:42a four-litre turbocharged V8 sourced from a Mercedes-Benz AMG, giving the DBX a top
01:48speed of 300 kilometres per hour. Bentley Motors has introduced the new Flying Spur
01:56Mulliner Edition to the Middle East. It's the ultimate in four-door luxury grand touring
02:01and takes its place as the flagship of the Bentley range. The new Flying Spur Mulliner
02:05will appeal to customers who desire an even greater focus on bespoke and elegant details.
02:12It rides on exclusive Mulliner 22-inch wheels with self-levelling wheel caps that remain
02:16upright as the wheels rotate. Up front, the double diamond front grille and chrome lower
02:22grille look great, while the iconic Bentley Flying V Hood ornament is electronically deployed
02:28and illuminated. It's available with a four-litre twin-turbocharged V8 or a six-litre twin-turbocharged
02:34W12. The V8 has a top speed of 318 kilometres per hour and the W12 does 333 kilometres per
02:43hour. Enjoy these big combustion engines while you can because by 2030, Bentley is going
02:48to go fully electric. Alright, that's enough of Bentley. Let's go and have a look at the
02:51Maserati Levant Hybrid. Maserati has taken its next step towards electrification with
02:56the unveiling of the Levant Hybrid, which makes its regional debut here at No Filter
03:01DXB. Maserati's electrification strategy began last year with the Ghibli Hybrid and
03:06this Levant Hybrid uses the same power plant as the saloon. It combines a four-cylinder
03:11two-litre engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system and despite cutting emissions by 18%
03:17over the petrol V6, this all-wheel-drive hybrid variant offers comparable performance by delivering
03:22a total of 330 horsepower. Right, that's enough of that. Let's head to the next car. It's
03:29incredible to think that the Range Rover has been around for 50 years and it looks
03:33like it's going to be around for many more years to come thanks to this beautiful new
03:36fifth-generation model. Available in SE, HSE and Autobiography variants, a standard long-wheel-based
03:44body design will be offered with five seats, while the stretched trim can be had with a
03:48third row, which for the first time ever, will allow it to accommodate seven adults.
03:53It features standard all-wheel-drive steering, four suspension settings, a dedicated wading
03:59mode that allows it to drive through water up to 900mm deep, while the interior boasts
04:04a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.1-inch touchscreen system on the centre
04:11console with haptic feedback. Power for the new flagship comes from a twin-turbocharged
04:20five-litre V8, while a mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain will also be available.
04:27And a few years down the line, there'll be a pure electric version too. The all-new
04:312021 Ford F-150 Raptor is making its regional debut here at the show and it comes loaded
04:37with new features and technology to ensure a thrilling off-road experience. It looks
04:43like it means business with its flared haunches, wide grille and aggressive stance. It's equipped
04:49with a seven-mode terrain management system, it has next-generation Fox internal bypass
04:55shocks, five-link rear suspension with a Panhard active dual exhaust for a throatier sound.
05:03The performance package comes with a massive 37-inch BFG Goodrich all-terrain tyres, the
05:08largest factory-fitted tyres in its class and a wrapped-around unique 17-inch forged
05:12aluminium bedlock-capable wheel. Interior highlights include a fully digital gauge cluster,
05:18a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a shifter that folds into the centre console.
05:24The turbocharged 3.5-litre V6, mated to a 10-speed automatic, makes 450 horsepower.
05:29The capability of this beautiful supertruck will take you deep into the extremes of off-road exploration.
05:54I'm afraid you're both wrong. What year?
05:5670s, yeah? 79, 80s, something about this, yeah?
06:01All right, let's ask my cameraman, Ahmed, what year do you think the last Ford Bronco was made?
06:071994.
06:09Oh, it's a good guess, he's not right.
06:12All right, I'm with this lovely lady in red, what year do you think was the last Ford Bronco made?
06:17I don't know, maybe 2018?
06:212018, I'll give you one more go.
06:262000?
06:27I'm going to give her one more go, go right now.
06:30Are you close to 2000 now?
06:331994?
06:35Oh, you're very close, but you're not quite right.
06:391994?
06:41Very close, yes.
06:42What do you think, sir?
06:471990?
06:491990, oh, you're both very close.
06:51I think in the 90s.
06:54Good guess.
06:55What do you think?
06:55I wanted to say 1999.
06:57Oh, both good guesses.
07:00The answer to that question was 1996.
07:03That was the year the last Bronco came out.
07:06It is now 25 years since then, and here is the all-new car.
07:10I love the heritage-inspired design.
07:12Ford has clearly leaned heavily on the first generation 1963 to 77 Bronco for influence.
07:18But under the skin, it packs modern engineering and smart off-road technology.
07:22It's available in both two- and four-door models,
07:25with a choice of two engines and four adventure-ready specs.
07:28You can unbolt the fender flares, the fenders themselves, and the grille,
07:32so when you go off-roading, you don't damage them.
07:35And the roof comes off too, so you can turn the Bronco into a convertible.
07:39It has two EcoBoost engines, a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder
07:44and a 2.7-litre turbocharged V6, both mated to a 10-speed automatic.
07:48Ineos Grenadier.
07:50The show will be the first chance for you to see
07:52the highly-anticipated hard-as-nails Ineos Grenadier.
07:56This 4x4 SUV was dreamt up in 2017 by the company's founder, Jim Ratcliffe,
08:02after Land Rover decided to seize production of the Defender.
08:05We do have an all-new Defender now,
08:06but it isn't as rugged as the original vehicle that became a global favourite since the 40s.
08:12Ineos saw a gap in the market for enthusiasts, and the Grenadier was born.
08:16The brief was simple, to design a modern, functional and highly-capable 4x4 vehicle
08:21with utility at its core.
08:23It looks like a straight copy of the original British stalwart,
08:25and there's a hint of the Mercedes G-Wagon in there too.
08:28Well, you know what they say, if you're going to borrow, then borrow from the best.
08:32It'll be powered by an inline-six BMW engine and transmission from ZF,
08:36and feature high and low ratios and locking differentials to give it increased capabilities.
08:41Alright, I'm joined by Chris Baxton, Operations Manager for Adamus Motors.
08:45Tell us the main details about the car.
08:47Main details, it's a really traditional 4x4.
08:51So there's no electrics or air suspension in the rear suspension.
08:57Ladder chassis, solid axles, BMW two types of engine,
09:02three litre diesel and petrol, ZF eight-speed manual gearbox, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats.
09:07So they've gone to the people who are the top of the game,
09:10not trying to reinvent things, sort of really good motor automotive suppliers,
09:15and then put it into a package that we tested this last week in Sharjah,
09:18and it is really, really good off-road.
09:20Desert and quarry, it's probably one of the best I've driven.
09:24And last but not least, we are at the Mercedes pavilion.
09:27There's a lot of nice things here to see,
09:29but the main one is the UAE Golden Jubilee Edition G63 AMG.
09:36This one obviously celebrates the UAE's 50th anniversary,
09:40and only 50 of these cars are going to be made.
09:42It's a nationwide favourite.
09:44The body of the Limited Edition model is enhanced with Golden Jubilee badges
09:49to commemorate the occasion, and it features a new two-tone exterior.
09:56The Limited Edition cars also feature new custom tyre inflation system
10:00and a special carbon fibre spare wheel cover designed exclusively for the occasion.
10:06Each car has an exclusive serial number to represent every year of the UAE's union.
10:21And no motor show is complete without some drifting action.
10:25So that's all from No Filter DXB.
10:37The show's on until Saturday 27th of November.
10:39Make sure you come out to take a look because there's plenty to see and do.
10:42That's me signing off.
10:43Ibrahim Malik and cameraman Ahmed Ramzan.
