00:00Omar Saab, welcome to Gulf News. It's great to catch up again after a very long hiatus.
00:08So, tell us a little bit about the outcome of the Delhi meet. So, you just met the Prime
00:16Minister along with a host of other politicians from Kashmir. What was your takeaway from the
00:23meeting? Well, I think at least I can speak for myself. I did not attend the meeting
00:33with any expectations of any big outcomes given that very few of us had had any contact
00:43with Government of India much less at the level of the Prime Minister since August of 2019.
00:53This meeting was more in the nature of an icebreaker, gave us an opportunity to tell
00:59the Prime Minister how we felt, how we thought the people of Jammu and Kashmir felt and also
01:10to hear what they had in mind in terms of a roadmap for Jammu and Kashmir. So, that was
01:19my objective and I think we were also very clear in not playing up expectations from this meeting.
01:28So, let's say it's a beginning. I wouldn't say anything more than that. It's a beginning.
01:34The Prime Minister has acknowledged that there is a vast gulf between Jammu and Kashmir
01:41and the rest of the country. He talked about a gap between J&K and Delhi and also a distance in
01:54hearts which needs to be addressed and if that is followed through with and concrete steps are
02:04taken to remove the distance between Delhi and J&K, then it will be a good beginning.
