00:00Warren Gatland is an icon of Welsh rugby, but after 14 successive defeats dating all
00:07the way back to 2023, he left his role as head coach by mutual consent with the Welsh
00:12Rugby Union. It has now officially been announced that his deputy, Rob Howley, will also step
00:17aside for the remainder of the tournament.
00:21Rob Howley has been a long-time assistant coach to Gatland and will remain under contract
00:25by the WRU, but for the time being at least, interim coach Matt Sherratt has taken the
00:29reins and has called up three players to the squad.
00:34Gareth Anscombe was a notable absentee into Gatland and has been called up by Sherratt
00:38along with Jared Evans and Max Llewellyn, with injuries to Liam Williams and Owen Watkin.
00:45It's hard to overstate how big the mountain Matt Sherratt and his new side will have to
00:49overcome for the remainder of the campaign, but for Welsh fans, they'll hope that the
00:54new boss will bring in some much-needed spirit into the side.
