Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo will be in a six-day official trip to Munich and London, where he is expected to attend an international security conference and meet with several high-ranking officials, the agency's spokesperson said on Thursday, Feb. 13.

00:00On February 14-19, 2025, Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo will embark on visits
00:11to Munich, Germany and London, United Kingdom.
00:15The Secretary's trips aim to exchange views with several international partners on regional
00:20developments and discuss means to further strengthen bilateral relations, including
00:26the commitment to safeguard a rule space, international order and the rule of law.
00:32Secretary Manalo will be in Germany to participate in the 61st Munich Security Conference, or
00:38MSC, on February 14-16.
00:42The Secretary will be a lead discussant in the roundtable discussion on making waves
00:47maritime tensions in the Indo-Pacific on February 15.
00:52The Munich Security Conference, held annually, is a prominent forum for debate and dialogue
00:58on international security policy and attended by foreign ministers, defense ministers, business
01:04leaders, think tanks and civil society.
01:08Secretary Manalo last attended the 59th Munich Security Conference in 2023.
01:14At the sidelines of the MSC, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs is also scheduled to hold
01:20several meetings with his counterparts, including Mr. Marco Antonio Rubio, Secretary of State
01:26of the United States of America, and Ms. Cahakalas, Vice President and High Representative for
01:33Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Commission.
01:37From Munich, the Secretary will proceed to London to hold bilateral meetings with UK
01:42officials.
01:43He will also engage the corporate network of Asia Society and have an interactive dialogue
01:48with members of the Chatham House.
01:51Asia House is an independent think tank and advisory services organization which facilitates
01:57high-level dialogues between companies and governments in Asia, Europe and the Middle
02:02East to enable political, economic and commercial engagements.
02:06Chatham House, on the other hand, is one of the oldest and most well-known think tanks
02:11in the world, which hosts speaking engagements of prominent government leaders, publishes
02:16independent peer-reviewed reports and research papers, and maintains a network of experts
02:22who provide in-depth commentaries on world events.
02:26Secretary Manalo's visits come at a pivotal moment following the Philippine celebration
02:31of the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations with Germany last year and ahead of the 80th
02:37anniversary of diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom next year.
