00:00Welcome back to the next edition of Bollywood Gossip and Movies with Manjusha and she is
00:10going to tell us what is going to happen and what has already happened in Bollywood this
00:15week starting with one of our favorite or not so favorite stars Salman Khan.
00:21Of course Salman Khan is at it again as always he is in a bit of trouble this time with his
00:26dear friend and director Sanjay Leela Bansali.
00:30If you remember they both had signed up for this movie called Inshallah with Alia Bhatt.
00:35It was supposed to be a romance and now there's been a fallout and I knew there was trouble
00:40in paradise when Salman Khan tweeted saying that the movie has been pushed on E! 2020
00:47Inshallah will not release but there will be something else for you.
00:50So that was the first indication that things were not going right between Sanjay Leela
00:54Bansali and Salman Khan and very soon reports actually emerged saying that he did not like
01:02the script that Sanjay Leela Bansali had in mind.
01:05He wanted the climax to be changed.
01:07Now if you remember during Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam days when Salman was not as big a star
01:13he wanted the climax of that romance that love triangle to be changed.
01:17Aishwarya's character was supposed to walk away with Ajay Devgn that's what Sanjay Leela
01:22Bansali wanted but Salman thought it would be better if Aishwarya came to him instead
01:28of to Sanjay and to Ajay and Sanjay just held his ground said no nothing doing the climax
01:34is going to remain unchanged and now but Salman now is a bigger star he survived in the industry
01:40for 31 years.
01:42Today he just tweeted about completing 31 years in the industry so he has so much clout
01:47so now I think he is in a position where he can say change the ending.
01:51Which brings us to another scandal involving Mehwish Hayat from the Pakistan film industry.
01:58That's right so in a whatsapp message Mehwish Hayat told me that she has no problems about
02:03calling out double standards and that Bollywood is again you know has she is leveled the most
02:09serious charge.
02:10First she had a problem with Bollywood demonizing her countrymen today she has a problem with
02:17Bollywood plagiarizing songs from Pakistan.
02:20So the bone of contention is of course a hit song with Alia Bhatt in it and it's called
02:26Prada where we see Alia Bhatt in designer goodies really dancing and shimmying her way
02:31into people's hearts and she is like this is a copy of vital signs Pakistani popular
02:36Pakistani bands work 1990 hit.
02:41So it's it's very funny and she's like I'm going to call them out no matter what even
02:45if it means that my popularity in India does not rise.
02:50And surprisingly she also called out Shah Rukh Khan and his web series called the Bard
02:55of Blood where we have Imran Hashmi playing a raw agent in Pakistan.
02:59So she had a problem with that as well saying that again you are villainizing Pakistan and
03:04this is not good.
03:05Speaking of fraud and accusations there have been a lot of accusations against the South
03:10Indian movie star or the superstar Mohanlal.
03:15That's right.
03:16Mohanlal again I don't know why is it that Mohanlal always puts his foot in the mouth.
03:22His intentions were very noble I must say.
03:24If you go to his blog you'll find a video message where he talks about how important
03:29is it to conserve the environment and how Kerala floods should not happen again.
03:37There must be city's prudent planning.
03:39So his intentions were noble but then you had a section of his fans trolling him mercilessly
03:45and calling him out for double standards.
03:47The reason being Mohanlal is not just one of the biggest stars of Malayalam industry.
03:52He's got a business empire.
03:54He's the owner of restaurant chains.
03:56He's got theater complexes called the Ashirvad complex in several places in Kerala and he
04:02owns so many buildings.
04:03So he's responsible for apparently flattening out land you know bringing rice fields to
04:09the ground.
04:10So when it comes to ecology he's not the one to talk.
04:13He also has ivory tusks elephant ivory tusks at his home in 2011 when income tax authorities
04:20raided his home.
04:21They found a tusk and it's wildlife contraband.
04:23So there was this whole debate about how does this superstar get away with having these
04:29wildlife restricted products in his home.
04:32But now apparently it's returned to the wildlife department but coming from him it just speaks
04:38it's just like double standards.
04:39I think the duplicity is what got his fans.
04:44You must read the comments.
04:45We have a story where we have listed out we have translated all the Malayalam and they're
04:50very sarcastic.
04:51I must add one thing about Malayalam fans are they're quite sarcastic.
04:54That's what they do best.
04:56So some of the comments are quite vitriolic.
04:59So have a hard stomach.
05:00If Mohanlal is reading it then perhaps he might think twice about posting any message
05:05that seems even remotely like double standards.
05:10And that brings us to some good news which is Shabana Azmi is in town.
05:14That's right.
05:15She's in town to celebrate her father Kaifi Azmi's 100th birth anniversary.
05:20And it's an event called Mehefili Urdu that's happening at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium
05:25at the Indian High School.
05:26So if you want tickets all you need to do is it's a free event.
05:29So go register.
05:30And if you like to hear Urdu poetry and you want to see Shabana Azmi a national award
05:36winning actress and Tanvi Azmi her sister-in-law along with actor Kanwaljeet Singh in action
05:41then just go to Sheikh Rashid Auditorium register yourself.
05:45And I spoke to her.
05:46She just landed from the airport.
05:48We went to a hotel room and we had a very interesting chat where we spoke.
05:53I asked her whether does she fear being an artist today in India considering the developments
05:58in Kashmir and how political parties are more right wing now.
06:03And she was like India there's no way she has any fear.
06:07She feels that India's democracy will always shine irrespective even if there's a slant
06:12towards the right in the political narrative.
06:14So we have she's saying that India can be democratic and secular all the time.
06:19There's nothing to fear.
06:20Countries like US and France are also going right wing.
06:23So it's only natural that after 33 years things will swing back to the left.
06:27So she's an eternal optimist she told us.
06:29But she refused to be drawn into the Kashmir debate saying that things are very complicated
06:34and she does not want to be drawn into any controversy.
06:38And I get it because anything they say will be used against them.
06:41And that brings us to the last one which is a big movie and a big production and the second
06:47most expensive movie made in India.
06:49That is right.
06:50After 2.0 this is the one with 3.2 billion rupees budget.
06:55It's called Saaho.
06:56It stars Prabhas.
06:58You remember the Bahubali star for those who are not familiar with South Indian cinema
07:03and the Shraddha Kapoor as well, Jackie Shroff, Neel Nitin Mukesh.
07:07There's like an array, an army of stars and it was primarily shot in Abu Dhabi.
07:12So at least 30 cars were blown up, 5 trucks also.
07:16Apparently if you're a testosterone charged thriller person then perhaps Saaho is just
07:22for you and they're coming to Dubai tomorrow.
07:24But I hear that Prabhas is a very private person.
07:28So he's not attending the special invites only screening tomorrow in Dubai but he's
07:33going to interact with Gulf News and select media outlets tomorrow.
07:38So we're going to get you all the details about what was it like to actually keep years
07:43of his life aside for a big budget film such as this.
07:47And I think he's done it repeatedly, he did that for Bahubali, now Saaho.
07:50That's what he does best.
07:51I think he's one of those rare actors who, you know, he doesn't mind keeping away at
07:56least four years of his life with just one movie.
07:58And I remember him saying that he didn't want to do after Bahubali, he was like, let me
08:02do something that's quick.
08:03But then when he read the script, he really liked it.
08:06One thing about Saaho is that it's very high on style and swagger.
08:10So if you like to see like larger than life characters, then perhaps this is the movie
08:16for you.
08:17And one thing I know is that Prabhas has this huge legion of fans.
08:21I don't know what is his appeal really, I'm yet to like put my finger on it.
08:24But people just love him.
08:26They just love to see all his dialogues.
08:28He's dubbed this movie simultaneously now in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada and Malayalam.
08:35So it's going to be very interesting.
08:37So they shot it at the same time, he had to say the same thing in multiple languages.
08:41So it's very interesting about the kind of effort that goes into every film.
08:45And we're really looking forward to Saaho.
08:47I'll be reviewing the film Anupam.
08:49So it's an 8.30pm the screening starts.
08:52So by most movie standards, it might start by 9pm.
08:55So by midnight, we should have something for you.
08:58Find out the world's first review might come out from us.
09:01Yes, as always, Manju has never failed us.
09:05Indeed.
09:06Yes, the pressure is intense, but we shall deliver.
