00:00It looks like the UAE's economy is still not out of the woods as private businesses continue
00:06to cut jobs and operate with skeletal workforces.
00:09According to the latest Purchasing Managers Index from Emirates NBD, about 9% of businesses
00:14surveyed reported reducing their headcounts in February 2019 compared to January 2019.
00:20Meanwhile, only 1.5% of businesses surveyed reported increasing their employee headcount.
00:26The PMI is now at the lowest it has been since October 2016.
00:30In other local news, operator Abu Dhabi Airports would not confirm that it would open the midfield
00:34terminal in the fourth quarter of 2019 as earlier announced.
00:38The opening of the terminal had already been delayed from the earlier announced 2017, and
00:43when asked if the terminal would open this year, Abu Dhabi Airport's CEO said they were
00:47keeping the date under wraps.
00:48The operator, however, said it has commenced testing for operational readiness at various
00:52parts of the midfield terminal.
00:54And finally, former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn could soon be released from Japanese jail
00:59on a bail of 1 billion yen, which is the equivalent of 9 million US dollars.
01:03His possible release would be on conditions that he remain in Japan and that he be prevented
01:08from destroying any evidence in the case.
01:10Prosecutors have, however, appealed that, so it's unclear when he may be released.
01:14This is all for now.
