00:00Mr. President, Mr. President.
00:02Mr. President.
00:04Mr. Mark Svoboda.
00:05Wow.
00:07He looks good.
00:08Applause.
00:16Your own mother.
00:26It's very difficult to articulate how proud I am of you and how proud of my mother for what you've done and came back to my country and made it the most humbling.
00:39I love you too.
00:41She's in shock, but I think she's humbling.
00:51If I win, we're going to do it.
00:54We're going to do it.
00:57Well, I'm in total awe.
01:02My thanks is for you, your administration, and these amazing people that have brought you home.
01:13I will spend the rest of my life in debt to you and the country.
01:20I'm so excited.
01:22Thank you very much.
01:24Welcome home.
01:25Welcome home.
01:26Pleasure to meet you, Mark Fogel.
01:28I got about 10 cards.
01:33I was one of them.
01:35My lawyers snuck a few in.
01:38I know.
01:39I asked them how they got in there.
01:40Hello.
01:42Mark Fogel.
01:44Pleasure to meet you, sir.
01:46Mike, this is your coach, right?
01:48Yeah.
01:49And it is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Squirrel Hill.
01:51Hey.
01:53I had a stealer hat on when I got off the plane.
01:58I don't know where it is, but it's great to meet another Pittsburgher.
02:02Your mom came to our house.
02:03She told me that.
02:05I just talked to Vicki, and I know she was there.
02:10I'm a proud Pittsburgher.
02:14Mark, you're our Russian caller.
02:17You've been an absolute star for me and my family.
02:22And, again, like I said, for me to articulate all this in this particular time,
02:30after what I've been through, and it's not the three and a half years,
02:34but the last six days has been quite, if you weren't sure, I don't know.
02:43They came and pulled me out, and I had a mask on.
02:49I couldn't see where I was going.
02:51They were moving me, and there was a point, I think it was today,
02:59I can't remember what day it is, but they brought me my clothes.
03:02You look great.
03:03You look great.
03:05That's fantastic.
03:06Let's get you out of the cold.
03:08I'm not one bit of cold.
03:09I came from Russia.
03:16You know what?
03:17Ten letters.
03:18I got one from you as well.
03:23I had that in a scrapbook I was keeping, and they took that scrapbook from me today,
03:29and I want it back.
03:30I want those journals back and that scrapbook.
03:34Your picture was in it, and as they were giving me the shakedown,
03:38they're looking through it, and I have the picture of you and my mom,
03:42and you should have seen these guys.
03:44Their eyes lit up, and I'm like, who is this?
03:47I said, that's my daughter.
03:49You just got to sign off.
03:55Be careful.
03:58Good to meet you.
04:01Good morning.
04:02Good morning.
04:03Good morning.
04:04I want to introduce you to somebody.
04:06Here he is.
04:13Thank you so much.
04:15Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
04:18Every ounce of my energy, I thank you, and I will for the rest of my life.
04:25Thank you so much.
04:30I felt so bad.
04:31Ow, stop.
04:34It's a little cold in Russia.
04:35Yeah, yeah.
04:36It's a little cold.
04:40Get one.
04:54Everybody knows Mark.
04:56He's become a very famous guy.
04:59He's a very happy guy tonight, so it's just a real honor,
05:03an honor to have you at the White House.
05:06I feel like the luckiest man on Earth right now.
05:14I want you to know that I am not a hero in this at all.
05:19President Trump is a hero.
05:23These men that came from the diplomatic service are heroes.
05:32The senators and representatives that passed legislation in my honor to get me home are the heroes.
05:43I am in awe of what they all did.
05:47My family has been a force.
05:51I think my 95-year-old mother is probably the most dynamic 95-year-old on Earth right now.
06:01I am so indebted to so many people.
06:05I think I remember a Churchill quote that he said when the RAF was fighting the Luftwaffe,
06:13and he said that never have so many owed so much to so few.
06:22And I put myself fortunately and unfortunately into that category,
06:27and I said never has one owed so much to so many that this superorganism of people that came to my support
06:39and the love that I was given sustained me for three and a half years in a prison
06:49that had me in hospitals for more than 100 days.
06:54I was given more than 400 injections in that time.
07:00And knowing I had the support of my fellow Pennsylvanians, my family, my friends,
07:11it was so overwhelming that it brought me to my knees and it brought me to tears,
07:23but it was my energy.
07:27It was my being that kept me going that whole time,
07:33and I will forever be indebted to President Trump, to Steve over there.
07:43What a dynamic man this guy is.
07:46That's true.
07:48When I met him, the energy, the can-do attitude just exudes from his body,
08:00and when he smiled at me and introduced me and I got the feel for what has happened,
08:05you know, it's not just me, it's everybody.
08:09And Secretary Rubio, who met my son a while back.
08:14I'm a middle-class schoolteacher who's now in a dream world.
08:27We're going to show you the Lincoln Bedroom.
08:30It's a very special place, appropriate for tonight, very appropriate.
08:37And thank you all.
08:42And I love our country, and I'm so happy to be back here,
08:49and I wish I could articulate it better.
08:55You've done beautifully, and he's got a great mother.
08:59And when I saw the mother at a rally, she said,
09:02If you win, will you get my son out?
09:05And I promised. She's 95 years old.
09:08And I said, We'll get him out.
09:09And we got him out pretty quickly.
09:11She told me that exact words.
09:15I remember. She made quite an impression.
09:18And you also did.
09:20And I'm in awe of what you've done and your team.
09:24It's great to have you back.
09:26You're going to have a great life.
09:28Mr. President, could you speak directly to President Putin about what happened?
09:31I just want to say that I appreciate very much what they did in letting Mark go home.
09:38And I appreciate Steve Whitkoff, the job he did.
09:42And Marco behind the scenes was unbelievable.
09:45And so many of these people were unbelievable.
09:48They represent him. They're from his area.
09:52And we just wanted to get him back home.
09:55I had to get him back home because I would have had big trouble with his mother.
10:00And we're going to take him for a little tour of the Lincoln bedroom, which nobody gets to see.
10:04And it's very special. Do you want to see it?
10:06I would love to.
10:07And I also should make mention that President Putin was very generous and statesmanlike in granting me a pardon.
10:18I mean.
10:20What were the terms of this deal, Mr. President?
10:22Very fair. Very, very fair. Very reasonable.
10:25Not like deals you've seen over the years.
10:28They were very fair.
10:30And I think that's going to lead.
10:31And somebody else is being released tomorrow that you will know of.
10:36But we wanted to get this done. Very important.
10:39And Steve wanted to actually fly over and get Mark and get him home properly because it could be a pretty tough trip.
10:46So is this the beginning of a deal, sir? Is this the start?
10:49I think there's goodwill in terms of the war.
10:52You know, a million and a half soldiers, young people have been killed.
10:55I've met many of them.
10:57And it's a terrible thing going on.
11:00So we want to get that done.
11:01I think this could be the very important element.
11:04You could be a big part of it, actually, because it could be a big, important part of getting the war over with Ukraine.
11:12And we appreciate President Putin's what he did.
11:16He was able to pull it off for you, right?
11:19He was able to pull it off.
11:21We think. And you're here.
11:23I'm here.
11:24So it was great.
11:26We'll tell you a little bit more about it tomorrow.
11:28But I think we've made great progress.
11:30Progress on the war also.
11:32Getting the war. I want to get the war ended.
11:34That war should not have been.
11:36It would have never happened if I was president.
11:38It would not have happened.
11:39And it did happen.
11:40And now you have all blown up cities and dead people.
11:43So many dead people.
11:45Should have never, ever happened.
11:47You could be a big catalyst for just this evening.
11:51It's a very important evening for ending that war.
11:53And I think they all want to see it ended.
11:55How does it change your perspective on Putin?
12:00Well, I don't want to get into that.
12:02I only can say this.
12:03We got a man home whose mother and family wanted him desperately.
12:07Whose state wanted him.
12:09He's become a big symbol.
12:11And it's an honor to have played a small role in that.
12:16And I just want to tell you, these people, they all played a role.
12:21And we got him home.
12:22And he's healthy.
12:24He looks good, actually.
12:25To me, you look damn good.
12:26I'll tell you that.
12:27I think when expectations are low, maybe that helps a little bit.
12:32Then you go kaplunk, right?
12:33Can you tell us about the conditions in prison that you were in, sir?
12:36You know, I think I needed a little bit of time to sort of digest all of that.
12:42There were times when it was extremely trying.
12:49There were times when I could manage it.
12:52But I think I need some more time to, you know, process.
12:56It wasn't easy, right?
12:58It wasn't easy.
12:59Every second, every minute, every day had a challenge.
13:03But you're in good shape.
13:05I mean, compare that to what we saw two days ago come home.
13:08They were very, very ill.
13:10Those people were very ill.
13:12They were treated really badly.
13:14Mr. President, your predecessor left you almost $4 billion in unused aid for Ukraine, to Ukraine.
13:21Are you going to use those money?
13:23Are you going to send weapons to Ukraine?
13:25My predecessor should have had this gentleman out a long time ago.
13:29You know, we did it in two and a half weeks.
13:31He had four years to do it.
13:33He should have had Mark out a lot earlier.
13:36It's a shame.
13:39It's a shame.
13:40He should have never had the war to start off with.
13:43That war would have never happened if I was president.
13:47But he should have had him back three and a half years ago.
13:50So it was too bad, but he didn't do it, but we did it.
13:53Thank you all very much.
13:55Thank you very much.
13:56Come on down.
13:57Mr. President, are reciprocal tariffs still coming tomorrow?
13:59Or are you waiting until you meet with Modi?
14:01We'll see what happens.
14:03Have you spoken with President Xi?
14:05I'm so numb with ideas.
14:07It's so great.
