00:00The D3 and Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation announced that they will launch DIDI, which
00:09is a university specialized in design in partnership with MIT and Parsons when it comes to developing
00:15the curriculum.
00:16I think they will start their first set of courses at the end of 2018.
00:22So I think, yes, it's something that we are looking at.
00:25It's not only the degrees, it's the executive courses as well, the short courses.
00:31So we have a yearly calendar in D3 where we focus on workshops, short courses, and we
00:36bring in top international universities as well.
00:39So we have London School of Fashion, Chelsea College of Arts.
00:43So all of them, they come here and they give courses.
00:45We have workshops from people from the industry.
00:48We even host schools as well.
00:51So we go to the school level as well, and we bring in people from the industry to talk
00:55to them and, you know, just to inspire them about the design industry and how important
01:00is the design industry.
01:02I think we have more than 90 companies owned by Emiratis, and I'm very proud to say they
01:07are mostly SMEs, so Emirati who want to start just finishing school or college, and they
01:13want to start something in the fashion.
01:14Some of them are very, very successful.
01:16I've mentioned Aljudd Lutan, there are many, many of them that are part of our community
01:21and they are hardworking.
01:23Some in fashion, some in product design, some in, you know, furniture design, some in jewelry
01:28like Ahmed Al Khalafi and Gafla as well, and many more.
01:33So yeah, Emiratis are getting into this industry, and I think it's a very serious industry.
