00:00for our Morissette is made live in Dubai and here with us is Mr. Ed Klaus from
00:07Golf News. Hello Morissette, maayong gabii, kumusta ka? Wow, hi, maayong gabii
00:13sa kanimo. I am doing very very well sir, how are you? I'm doing great, thank you
00:19very much. So I wanted to begin by asking the last time you performed here in
00:25Dubai was on a much smaller stage than the one you'll be performing on in
00:30August. Are you excited about that step up? Yes of course I'm very very excited.
00:36First and foremost the last concert I did in Dubai was with fellow artists,
00:42fellow artists here in the Philippines who are just as great friends to me and
00:47right now this will be like a solo concert and it'll be headlined by me
00:53joined by a very good friend as well. I'm very excited but there's also
00:57pressure but of course that's good pressure. I want to give my best to all
01:01our audiences there in Dubai. Right, right. Now when you were diagnosed with
01:07vocal cord nodules, did you ever fear not being able to sing again? Actually
01:13yes. For a backstory for everybody, I learned I had nodules when I abused my
01:21voice when I did my very first theater production. I thought, I thought then
01:27that I was young, I was invincible, I could just sing everything but it was
01:31because of that I learned to better take care of my voice. So yeah there was
01:37a fear for me and my family that I won't be able to like hit the same songs and
01:41hit the same range but it was all good with the help of my mentors and my vocal
01:47coaches we were able to get back on track. Right, now how much do you feel
01:54like you've contributed to the advancement of OPM? I try of course with
02:02the original music that I have. Here on the Wish 107.5 bus I do a lot of covers
02:07and it was through, I think it was through Secret Love Song that really
02:11stepped it up for me but every time I get to share my original music here and
02:15on any other platform it's always an honor because I believe that a singer
02:19should always have their own music, should always be proud of that and I
02:23hope that the Filipino people and more of our friends will continue to support
02:28us here and me as well. Now when you perform in Cebu later this month it will
02:35be a kind of homecoming show for you. You have performed there before obviously at
02:38the opening of the new airport in front of President Rodrigo Duterte who you
02:43shared a duet with. Were you nervous when you dueted with President Duterte and
02:48I saw you...
02:53All right I think we are experiencing some technical difficulties but I think
02:58Morissette you can continue. Did you feel nervous when you shared a duet with the
03:02President? Actually to clarify I wasn't able to really share a duet with him but
03:08I was able to sing in front of Mr. Duterte on the same stage and of course
03:13it was nerve-wracking. You're singing for the President of the Philippines but he
03:16was very very nice and I'm very very proud that he called the new Cebu
03:22International Airport one of the best, if not the best airport in the Philippines
03:27so that's something I'm very very proud of coming from my hometown. Right of
03:31course and now you've acted in a few small roles before you got into your
03:36career as a singer. Would you ever trade your career as a musician to be an
03:41actress? Actually a lot of people have been asking me that but for me I will
03:49always have that love for music. Of course I'm open to doing acting stints
03:54whether for movies or like soap operas but it's very very different when I'm
03:59very very different when I'm just on stage and just to share my heart out
04:02through music and with my voice so yeah I'll always I'll always be singing. I
04:09think I wouldn't ever trade that for anything. Right okay that's that's it for
04:15me for now for Gulf News. Hashtag Pinoy and I'll pass it back to the DJs. Thank
04:21you Ed. Thank you so much. Nice to meet you. Salamat kayo. I'm Ping. I'm Ping. Ayo ayo. Ayo ayo. Hope to see you soon. Thank you.
04:30Thank you very much Mr. Ed Klaus for taking your time out. Thank you. DJ Adam and DJ Anis. Yes
04:37thank you very much DJ Jules. Once again we would like to acknowledge all the
04:40Filipino viewers. We are still broadcasting live still here in Central
04:44Station here in the Philippines and also live at Consoles Restaurant in Dubai UAE
04:48of course where Morissette is made digital interview of course with Gulf
04:53News. Thank you very much Gulf News. Thank you. Thank you you guys and now we are
04:56moving on with our exclusive interview with Morissette because there are some
05:02fans who apparently wish to ask you some questions. Yes. Yeah we have we have some
05:09questions from some fans here in Dubai. So this first question is from Claire in
05:14Dubai. Claire wants to know Morissette do you ever feel stage fright when
05:18performing in front of a large crowd? Actually always. I'd always get stage
05:24fright either with a big crowd or a small crowd because the experience is
05:29always different and just to know you're performing for different types of people.
05:34So yeah it differs every time. I always get stage fright but of course when I'm
05:39up there I always have to look like nothing's wrong and just enjoy and I'm
05:44very very happy that of course the audience makes me feel that way. They're
05:47very very warm. Right. The next question is from Patricia of Sharjah. Patricia
05:52wants to know what's your all-time favorite song? I think that's probably
05:58one of the hardest questions you could ask the singer because there's just so
06:02many good songs but um I don't know at the moment well going to pop culture at
06:09the moment one of my jams like in the bathroom or just anywhere I like just
06:15popping into singing The Middle by Zedd yes yes I like singing that so it's
06:23just very fun to sing and just a good jam. Okay now Leslie of Dubai wants to
06:29know do you have a ritual to prepare yourself for a concert or public
06:32performance? My ritual would be of course I try to just drink a lot of
06:40water and this this next one is differs from a difference what it differs
06:46between artists for me I like to drink coffee before before I perform it's like
06:52my my fuel so yeah just taking coffee and of course vocalizing just to warm up
06:57Okay and Nesta asks how do you keep yourself in shape? In shape? I try to get
07:07to work out the most every time I'm not doing shows I try to work out and it's
07:14very I still find it very very important that I get enough rest because I believe
07:18that that's when the body really gets to work and heal and just yeah rest and
07:24work out. Okay and the last question from your fans here in Dubai is from
07:30Mark he wants to know if anyone has ever made an unforgettable romantic proposal
07:36to you? I had my share I'm not sure if I want to share those experiences but not
07:50really to the point that it was a like a proposal just you know we call it
07:54moments here and there. Okay do you have a couple of minutes now for some rapid
08:03fire questions Morissette? Yeah sure. To have some energy? Yeah if it's all good yeah I'm good I am.
08:08They're not gonna be as explicit as lights on or lights off. As long as it's nothing
08:13incriminating. Exactly exactly all right Morissette you ready? Yes I am. All right
08:19first thing you do in the morning? I stretch I do a lot of stretching in the
08:23morning. What keeps you up at night? Work. Or who? Work. Actually work. Yeah I'm very hands-on
08:33with the things I do and it always keeps me up yeah. Okay favorite guilty food?
08:41Guilty food? Fried chicken. Life. It's life. Last place you visited for leisure?
08:51Sorry? Sorry? The last place you visited for leisure? Last place I visited for
08:59leisure was a in Hawaii. We were able to do a show there and I got to extend an
09:04extra day just to be able to go around and my best friend also is based
09:09there so she was able to show me more of the island. Nice okay favorite singer?
09:16Favorite singer? Top of mind Mr. Gene Velasquez. Okay your idea of me time?
09:24My idea of me time would just be at home with my family and my dogs just
09:32relaxing. Okay speaking of your dogs how many do you have and what are their
09:39names? I have two dogs well that are based here in Manila and are with me I
09:44have a Chow Chow named Zeus and I have a Bichon Frise named Apollo. Very Greek
09:51mythology inspired. You are the Phoenix. Now back to Jules. Alright DJ Adam and
10:00DJ Alice sorry about this but we gotta squeeze in one more question let's give
10:04the floor again once again to Mr. Ed Klaus. Okay one more question for you
10:09Marissa and then we'll let you go and have some time to yourself. Obviously
10:13everyone here wants to know we're all OFWs or overseas Filipino workers if
10:17you were an OFW where would you live and work?
10:22That's a very good question. I haven't really thought of that because well in my career now I've been given all these
10:32opportunities to just travel and sing for so many OFWs around the world
10:38around Europe and in the States it's kind of hard to if I were an OFW where
10:45would I put myself because just hearing different stories from different people
10:51they all go through very different things so I'm not sure where I'd be and
10:56where I'd be able to like survive because it's no joke what they're going
11:02through but I really we're all hands down and we really want to give so much
11:07love and respect to all our kababayans and OFWs who just give all give their
11:13all for their families so yeah. Mabuhay! Mabuhay! Okay what food would you crave?
11:21What food like right now? No if you're an OFW. Oh like from the Philippines
11:29probably maybe adobo. Adobo, yes. And one last question if you were an OFW what would you put in your
11:42ballot buy-in box and who would you send that box to? If I were an OFW well
11:48given that I'm the only one there in that country and my family's here of
11:53course I'd be sending that to my family and all my friends and what would be
12:00inside my ballot buy-in box would probably just the things that I usually
12:03use in that specific country or like yeah all of that the delicacies of that
12:11spot and pictures of course. Okay salamat kaya Morissette Amping thank you for your time
12:18and thank you very much and thank you very much Ed Prowse the tremendous
12:25feeling of excitement you know it won't make Ed stop until we unless we make him
12:30stop asking you questions all right back to you DJ Adam and DJ Alice. Thank you again to you
12:37Jules and to everyone there from Gulf News and everyone there in Dubai. Thank you very much!
13:18you
