00:00K9 lovers across the UAE and Gulf are gearing up for the 11th edition of the Saluki Championship
00:11organized by the Hamdan bin Mohamed Heritage Center.
00:14Known to be the fastest breed for long distances, the Guinness Book of World Records in 1996
00:20has listed the fastest Saluki having reached a speed of 68.8 km per hour.
00:27Male and female Salukis will race over distances of 1,000 meters and 2,500 meters during the
00:34championship, which has become a much-anticipated event in the calendar of both UAE residents
00:40and tourists alike.
01:10The Arab Saluki and the Korean Saluki have given better results than the Saluki, in terms
01:17of speed, endurance, and muscle structure.
01:20They have given better results than the Arab Saluki in terms of the field, hunting, and
01:26heat.
01:27Most of the Salukis participating in the local championships are imported from Turkey.
01:37When we buy the Saluki, we buy it at the age of the head, about a year and a half.
01:44If a person knows that the Saluki is good, he can buy it at the age of 8 or 9 months,
01:52and know that it is good for the championship.
01:56The preparations for the championship are no longer limited to organizational and technical
02:04standards, but also include indicators of happiness and success.
02:10The participants are given ample time to prepare for the race, choosing their breed for the
02:16event, and ensuring quality of performance in front of spectators.
02:20The Hamdan Center filmed the race in this traditional event.
02:23It shows how the first-timers used to hunt wild rabbits and wild goats to earn their
02:28daily bread.
02:29The event is organized by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the President of the
02:35State, and the support of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the President
02:40of the Executive Council of Beirut.
02:42As you can see, the Hamdan Center is dedicated to the revival of the tradition.
02:46We are in this field in Marmoum.
02:48We will organize this championship, God willing, and we hope that it will benefit all
02:52the participants, whether they are from inside the state or outside the state, who
02:56participate here from the Gulf states.
02:58It is a strong competition, a strong challenge, and the statistics are recorded there every
03:01year.
03:02I wish good luck to everyone, and the championship from the first to the tenth place in all
03:07the final stages on the 25th.
03:09I wish good luck to all the participants.
03:11Welcome.
03:12May God's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
