00:07British Prime Minister Theresa May faces the voters today in an election she called to
00:11strengthen her hand in looming Brexit talks, with her personal authority at stake after
00:16a campaign that saw her lead in opinion polls contract.
00:19Voting began amid tight security nationwide after two Islamist attacks killed 30 people
00:24in Manchester and London in less than two weeks, thrusting the issue of how to counter
00:28violent extremism to the top of the agenda in the closing stages of the campaign.
00:33Fired FBI chief James Comey has confirmed that Donald Trump urged him to drop a probe
00:38into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn in a preview of hotly awaited testimony
00:44today that could rock the foundations of the presidency.
00:47Comey's bombshell claim fuelled fresh allegations that Trump illegally tried to obstruct an
00:52investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
00:56Searchers found bodies and debris from a military transport plane that disappeared
01:01with 122 people on board shortly after taking off on Wednesday afternoon from an airbase
01:06in the southern part of Myanmar. The plane was carrying relatives of Myanmar soldiers
01:10including children as well as 14 crew members, and there was no immediate word on whether
01:15there were any survivors. The plane was found in the Andaman Sea, about 40 miles from the
01:19Mayak airbase.
01:21Pakistan defeated South Africa by the Duckworth-Lewis method after rain washed out their Group B
01:26Champions Trophy match here. Batting first, South Africa had set a target of 220 runs.
