00:00Good day. Welcome to the Gulf News Update for Tuesday, August 2. Here are the top stories
00:07at this hour.
00:09The World Anti-Doping Agency has hit back at Olympics President Thomas Bach for complaining
00:15against the timing of a bombshell report into government-led Russian doping, which has left
00:20preparations for the Rio Games in chaos.
00:23The International Olympic Committee, led by Bach, has been strongly criticized for deciding
00:28against banning Russia for its state-sponsored doping regime, instead leaving the decision
00:33over participation to individual sports federations.
00:37Bach has claimed that he might have been able to make stronger decisions if information
00:42on Russian doping had been followed up a couple of years ago, but WADA insists it acted as
00:47quickly as it could in publishing the report.
00:50Donald Trump launched a familiar attack against Bernie Sanders, saying the lawmaker from Vermont
00:56made an arrangement that he shouldn't have when he decided to support Hillary Clinton
01:01for president.
01:02He made a deal with the devil, she is the devil," Trump said of Sanders and Clinton.
01:08Anton Yelchin's parents have filed court documents indicating the Star Trek actor died
01:13without a will and left behind a nearly $1.4 million estate.
01:19Court records show Victor and Irina Yelchin filed to become administrators of their son's
01:24estate in Los Angeles Superior Court.
01:27The actor died on June 19 when he was crushed by his vehicle in the driveway of his Studio
01:32City home.
01:33Alain Dzu's favourite gorilla inhabitant passed away in her sleep at the age of 41.
01:40The lowland gorilla, named Lady, was the oldest mammal in the zoo as she lived there for 40
01:45years.
01:46In a statement, Alain Dzu's spokesperson said, it is with sadness that Alain Dzu announces
01:51the passing away of perhaps its most loved animal.
01:54Lady first came to the zoo in 1978 and immediately became a favourite with both keepers and visitors.
02:01As a young infant, she was hand-reared by keepers and was always a centre of attention.
02:07And finally the weather, today's high across the UAE will be 44 degrees Celsius, dropping
02:13to 32 degrees at night.
