00:06plane that crash-landed this afternoon at Dubai airport have survived, and less than
00:11ten were treated for smoke inhalation. The plane, a Boeing 777, was on a regular scheduled
00:16flight from Tivarathapuram in southern India to Dubai when it made an emergency landing.
00:21The plane burst into flames moments after all 282 passengers and 18 crew members were
00:27evacuated from the aircraft. The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, Dubai's
00:32government and the carrier said. Footage on social media showed thick black smoke billowing
00:37from the aircraft. Airport authorities held all operations at Dubai International until
00:43further notice. Arriving planes have been diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport
00:48in Jebel Ali. There were 226 Indians, 24 Britons and 11 Emirati nationals on board. Footage
00:55also showed smoke coming out of the centre of the plane, while the fuselage appeared
01:00to be lying on the runway when escape slides opened. Dubai media office said the fire had
01:05been contained, adding that emergency teams at the airport and Emirates are well trained
01:10to deal with such incidents. Emirates is the largest single operator of the Boeing 777
01:14as well as the Airbus A380 Super Jumbo, and it has expanded its fleet to 250 aircraft
