00:00It all started off so well, as people gathered in their hundreds to welcome Katrina Kaif,
00:10Imran Khan and Ali Zafar for the premiere of their latest movie at Abu Dhabi's Marina
00:15Mall. Security drafted in, barriers in place, people waited for more than three hours to
00:21greet the stars. We caught up with Katrina earlier at a press conference at Abu Dhabi's
00:26Hilton Hotel.
00:28Yeah, I think that was a really good learning experience I think for a lot of us, for the
00:34entire industry actually, for me as well, for everybody. Because sometimes there's a
00:39certain thinking, a certain stereotype that the film has got to be like, it's got to be
00:45masala, it's got to be like a ready or it's got to be like a welcome or a singer's king
00:50for a film to be a big commercial blockbuster. A film like Zindagi was always considered
00:55to be a great film but slightly niche and this was the general environment before the
01:00film was up for release. And I think the fact that it did so well at the box office is really
01:06an encouraging sign. I think it's showing that our audiences are ready and willing to
01:10see any type of film. They don't require a formula nor do you have to think that this
01:16is what they're expecting. If you give them a good product and a film which is running
01:21on its own merit, then people are coming and it is doing the numbers. Obviously the
01:25story is something which is fiction, which is written by the director, but the character
01:29is something which we really worked on, which in a way I think has a lot of me in it as
01:34well. The kind of expressions the director has tried to take, the kind of nuances, because
01:40he knows me quite well. I play a girl who's in Delhi University in the portion of the
01:45film where you see this kind of rock song. But that is really just about them having
01:50fun. It's kind of this big group of people who are studying at Delhi University. They
01:56go on this trip and that's just part of her character. But I'm not a rock star in the
02:02film, nor am I a guitarist, nor am I supposed to be a serious singer at all.
02:06But soon after the press conference, things turned ugly.
02:10As the star arrived, the crowd turned into what can only be described as a tsunami. It
02:15surged forward, taking women and children in its wake.
02:39Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
03:09Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
03:18Guys, guys, guys, please calm down. Somebody's going to get hurt. Come on.
03:23Otherwise we'll have to go.
03:26In the end, things even proved too much for a visibly shaking Katrina Cave. The stars
03:30were whisked through a back entrance of the cinema as things got too dangerous outside.
03:36Seems this is going to be one premiere the stars will never forget.
