00:00Heart's Day on Friday is doubly special. The first one for obvious reasons, and the second

00:05coincides with the launching of PhilHealth's new set of benefits which tens, even hundreds of

00:11thousands of indigent and poor yet qualified Filipinos can avail, as our Noel Talacay lays

00:18out in his report. The Philippine Health Insurance, or PhilHealth, announced today

00:26that more benefits to be implemented this month. This announcement was made during the Kapihan sa

00:32Bagong Pilipinas, the weekly news forum of the Philippine Information Agency, or PIA, in the

00:37morning today. Last year, we promised pinalawak at mga bagong benepiso para sa mamamayang Filipino.

00:48Staying true to that promise, we have broadened our coverage, especially for marginalized

00:55sectors. Since our last Kapihan last September 2024, remember, we have launched 13 new and

01:06enhanced benefit packages. During her interview, she said one of the new benefits is preventive

01:13oral health services. PhilHealth allocated 1,000 pesos per year per PhilHealth beneficiary.

01:20Another new benefit is pediatric optometric services, which children ages 0 to 15 years

01:28old can avail of free consultation and prescription eyeglasses. With this,

01:33the country's insurance agency is urging private medical clinics to credit as consulta facilities.

01:51According to PhilHealth's data, there are over 3,000 consulta facilities nationwide,

02:01and more than 400 are located in the National Capital Region, or NCR, which is still not enough

02:08because according to Dr. Lico, the NCR needs over 800 consulta facilities. But Dr. Lico stressed

02:15that they are now checking some of the health centers of LGUs in the NCR to ensure additional

02:22accredited consulta facilities in the region. Outpatient care benefit and physical medicine,

02:39rehabilitation, and assistive devices are two more new benefits to be launched later this month.

02:46Dr. Lico said the new four additional benefits package will take effect this February 14,

02:53and is the same date PhilHealth of NCR will start accepting applications for accreditation coming

03:01from the private medical facilities as consulta facility. This initiative is part of PhilHealth's

03:0730th anniversary and the celebration of National Health Insurance Month this February.
