00:10The UAE has jumped eight places to become the eighth most competitive nation in the
00:14world in 2013 from the 16th position. The latest world competitiveness ranking has been
00:20published by Switzerland-based the International Institute of Management Development. This
00:25is the biggest jump by any country among the 60 most competitive nations this year. The
00:29country has ranked No. 1 in government efficiency, making the UAE government the most efficient
00:34in the world.
00:35Syria has already received the first shipment of an advanced Russian air defense system
00:40and will soon get the rest of the S-300 missiles, President Bashar al-Assad said. He will give
00:45an interview with Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV station tonight. Free Syrian Army military
00:50chief Salim Idris says Hezbollah has invaded Syria with over 7,000 men currently fighting
00:55in Qusayr.
00:56Two of English football's biggest stars, Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez, are reportedly
01:01open to moves to Real Madrid. Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett told a Spanish television
01:06show that the Tottenham winger would listen to an offer from Real. Liverpool striker Suarez
01:12said on a Uruguayan radio station that it would be difficult to say no to the Madrid
01:16club.
01:17Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh passed away early this morning in Calcutta.
01:23It is reported that the 49-year-old multiple national award winner was suffering from pancreatitis.
