00:00Congratulations on that!
00:02Thank you!
00:03What did you think when you first read these scripts?
00:05I couldn't believe that I had the scripts of The White Lotus Season 3 in my inbox, on my Gmail.
00:11I was like, this is like the most confidential, like, top secret information.
00:19And I have it all in my thing. And then I read it, and I was like, Mike, you've done it again.
00:24You've done it again. You have topped it somehow.
00:27I'm the biggest fan of The White Lotus. For the first two seasons, I'm like a devout, like, I'm obsessed with it.
00:34So I was also nervous reading them, because I was like, what's three going to be?
00:38Because sometimes a season three can get a bit, you know.
00:41And Mike's just such a genius. He's just, he's outdone himself. I think he's surpassed it.
00:46How do you feel like this compares to the first two? Because I know he said it's darker.
00:50It's darker, but weirdly, I'm like, from my character's perspective, Mike is so sharp and acerbic in his writing.
01:01And that's what we love about it, because he's so good at nailing everyone's worst bits and the worst parts of humanity.
01:07But he's actually a very hopeful, enthusiastic, playful, optimistic person.
01:12And I feel like he's expressed that bit of himself through Chelsea.
01:15So it felt really cool to, like, bring maybe some of the hope to the show.
01:19So I think it is definitely darker. There's more melancholy. The stakes feel very high from the get-go.
01:27There's a lot, it's like even more tension, like all the things we love about White Lotus, but amplified.
01:33But then I do think there's this added layer of, like, optimism.
01:37But I think that maybe is because I play Chelsea, who is so optimistic.
01:41So when I watched it back, I was like, oh, my God, this is really, really tense and dark.
01:47And everyone's so greedy and their egos.
01:51But I was just in my own little, like, wow, the White Lotus, wow, wow, I'm so happy to be here.
01:56So, yeah, I think it is, there's a depth to it and a heaviness to it.
02:03Like, I watched episode five last night and I was left like, oh, that really, like, even in the, like, fun moments,
02:12there's a depth and a heaviness to it. You know, it's going there. It goes there.
02:18He's like, I'm going to take it to the absolute, because it's like this season's theme is life and death.
02:23It's spirituality. So it's very much about, like, destiny and fate.
02:30And do we have choice and free will or do we have to go with what's written for us in the stars kind of thing?
02:35Yeah.
02:36From what I've seen, you have a couple of scenes with Lisa. What was that like in her first acting role?
02:41It was so amazing to witness because she was so nervous.
02:45She's got so much humility.
02:47She was just, like, so scared about doing that first scene with me and Walt and that was her first scene.
02:52And she came over and I think, like, in the scene, it's not Chelsea smiling, it's Amy.
02:58I'm literally, like, I'm just grinning at her because I'm like, she's so good.
03:02She's so good because she was so scared.
03:05And then she just absolutely nailed it, like, smashed it.
03:08So I was so impressed by her.
03:11It's a big first scene.
03:12It's a big first scene and she's so, like, lovely and open.
03:16And, like, she and Tame, like, their storyline is one of my favorite of the season.
03:20Like, it's so beautiful and both of them are so amazing.
