Daniel Wales and Charles Hague-Jones review Bristol City vs. Swansea City.
Transcript
00:00Bristol City looking for a place in the play-off places. Three points on offer against Swansea
00:06City which would have saw them go into the top six and unfortunately for Bristol City
00:13they did what Bristol City have been doing this season. They built a bit of a head of
00:16steam and then when it comes to the really important match which can take them into those
00:21all-important play-off places and they blow it. A 1-0 loss at home to Swansea City. Josh
00:27Tyman with the goal, a rebound but some great celebrations in the away end at Ashton Gate
00:33and ultimately that just sums up Bristol City's season so far. As I say, they're building
00:38up some momentum. They've got some really good results in the last few weeks which had
00:41put them in a position where they could have broken into the top six and then when it came
00:45to it they didn't manage to do it. Yes, of course, there might be further opportunities
00:49down the line but it just shows that despite the quality they have when it comes to the
00:55moments that matter, whether it's bottling perhaps seems harsh but it could be categorised
01:03that way to be honest. Of course, great celebrations for Swansea City but for Bristol City, where
01:09did Liam Manning and his side go from here? How do they respond because of course you
01:13had such a good chance and you haven't taken it. You've just got to make sure if you get
01:16another one like that that they do take it. It just shows the inconsistency they've had
01:21this season. We've mentioned it so many times here when talking about them but overall
01:25it's just really frustrating.
01:30And obviously Swansea City coming away with a win at Bristol City. Firstly, it came out
01:37of absolutely nowhere really. Swansea City, if you look at their recent form, are right
01:41down in the form table in the Championship. They've really, really struggled and that
01:47includes being knocked out of the FA Cup to Southampton. That includes a South Wales derby
01:53loss away at Cardiff City as well. We've mentioned how cut-throat the Championship
01:58can be and it was only a month or two or so ago that Swansea were right up there, right
02:05fighting with the likes of Bristol City around the play-off places. This form has seen them
02:10slide all the way down to 16th in the league. They've been absolutely abysmal really. So
02:16to come away with an away win for Luke Williams' side is massive for confidence, massive for
02:21this run-in. You think surely looking at the table they are going to avoid the drop
02:27and avoid that but you never really know with the Championship. There's obviously sides
02:31down there picking up a bit of form and Swansea will be looking over their shoulder obviously
02:37out of the Cup competitions as I say and they are really hoping now for a fantastic run-in
02:43in the league. This will give them the world of good in terms of their confidence. Josh
02:48Tyman's goal came up very, very timely for their side and they really sat back and defended
02:53well and it was a huge, huge win away at Bristol City for Luke Williams' side.
