Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has warned that Ramadan bazaar licences found to have been resold will be revoked immediately.
Speaking at a meeting with staff from the Prime Minister's Department on Monday (Feb 10), Anwar stressed that failing to act against such violations could lead to broader governance issues in the country.
He also urged Malaysian Muslims to prepare for the holy month of Ramadan in March by reflecting on its meaning, essence, and message for a deeper and more meaningful observance.

00:00This country certainly has a bigger responsibility, because I am sure, as well as my colleagues,
00:09if we arrange the country's order and the order comes out better, many things can be improved.
00:18There are both results, flexibility and maturity.
00:23This is what we promise when we implement it with the courage of the SACAP,
00:30which has already been implemented.
00:33That is, to agree with the public responsibility,
00:36which is to improve the quality of work, service and their level of communication.
00:42And I hope all of us, including me, the members of the Ministerial Committee,
00:48can ensure that we improve it.
00:52We see what has been done by Duk Zalewa and Banerja Kuala Lumpur
00:59in terms of enforcement of many illegal shops,
01:05the presence of foreigners who have opened up such large business areas.
01:16The situation has been left for a long time.
01:19So when we take action, we see a very big activity.
01:24This is a reminder to us.
01:27If we let the situation become a mess,
01:31dozens of years have been allowed,
01:35so in the end our task is big.
01:38So that's why I want to encourage and support the steps taken by the State
01:43so that it is firm and follows the rules.
01:48And it is not a violent and cruel action,
01:52but the rules.
01:55And the second is to be careful.
01:57This is about Ramadan,
01:59which we have known for years that there is an agent,
02:02there is a big commission.
02:04So what is the problem in giving business lessons to business people?
02:11It is not through representatives.
02:13If there is an agency that takes tens of ringgit for management,
02:18cleanliness, I understand that.
02:20But if it is sold,
02:23it means that the public officials involved know the truth
02:29and are supportive.
02:32And you have to understand that this has been happening for years.
02:39Not just in Kuala Lumpur, but in almost every city in our country.
02:43So I hope that with a firm implementation in Kuala Lumpur,
02:47it will become an example.
02:50An example of good implementation.
02:52Imagine, people want to trade in the month of Ramadan
02:56to get higher returns and higher contributions
03:03for water preparation for the family.
03:06There are still people like that,
03:08apart from the established standards.
03:11So I would like to thank them for their support.
03:13The standards have been reduced,
03:15but we have to make sure that whoever gets the lesson,
03:18he works.
03:20If he changes the lesson,
03:23he will be fired immediately.
03:25And this requires good decision-making and management.
03:29I am grateful, alhamdulillah,
03:31because this awareness exists.
03:33It means that we are able to implement it.
03:36But if we let it be,
03:38this is the situation in Malacca.
03:41A small town,
03:43a huge project,
03:46if we are able to do it,
03:48it will be taken away.
03:50It is not our right.
03:51So I believe,
03:53most of the social workers understand
03:56why we are pressuring the management.
04:00And I believe,
04:04this must be done
04:06in the port,
04:08in the airport.
04:11We can see that there are some systems
04:13that are more organized now,
04:15but there are still some violations,
04:18and we have to monitor the situation.
