Shear line, ITCZ to bring heavy rains; PAGASA warns of flooding, landslides

00:00Good morning and live from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.

00:07The time is now, this Sunday, February 9, 2025.

00:12In our latest satellite images, we can see that we don't have a low-pressure area being monitored.

00:17We also don't have any typhoons inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

00:21But with the continued effect of the shear line, the shear line is now covered by hot and cold winds.

00:26It will still be rainy in a large part of the Bicol Region, including Aurora, Quezon.

00:31And because of the ITCZ or Intertropical Convergence Zone,

00:35there is a high chance of rainy season here in the eastern part of Visayas,

00:39including Mindanao, and even here in the Palawan region.

00:42You can see that there are still clouds here in Palawan.

00:44Meanwhile, a large part of Luzon will experience mild rains,

00:49followed by a north-east monsoon or a cold wind.

00:52Again, our countrymen should be careful,

00:54especially in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, including Quezon Province,

00:59for sudden floods or flash floods,

01:03and landslides,

01:05due to the continued effect of the shear line.

01:09Based on our data, we have a low chance of having a typhoon until the next few days.

01:14But the rain brought by the shear line will continue.

01:17And here in Luzon, we can see a high chance of rain,

01:21especially in the Bicol Region, including Aurora and Quezon,

01:25and several parts of Mimaropa, especially in Palawan,

01:29where the shear line and the ITCZ or Intertropical Convergence Zone meet.

01:33In the southern part of Luzon,

01:35especially in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera,

01:39as well as the southern part of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and Calabarzon,

01:43we expect the possibility of mild rains followed by a cold wind.

01:49In the Manailocos Region, we expect generally fair weather,

01:52but it is still possible for isolated or mild rains followed by a cold wind.

01:57The temperature outside is around 23-30°C.

02:01In Baguio, it's 15-23°C.

02:03In Togegarao, it's 21-28°C.

02:06In Manila, it's 23-30°C.

02:09In Tagaytay, it's 21-28°C.

02:11While in Legazpi, it's 24-29°C.

02:16In Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,

02:19the ITCZ or Intertropical Convergence Zone will continue to receive rains.

02:23The temperature in Cagayan Islands is 25-31°C.

02:27In Puerto Princesa, it's 25-30°C.

02:31It will also be rainy in the eastern Visayas,

02:33so our countrymen should be careful of flash floods and landslides.

02:37The southern part of Visayas, Central Visayas,
