00:00So we're here at Market Drayton and Kate, the market, this is your world here isn't it?
00:04It is, it is, the centre of my universe.
00:07And you've got a special VIP guest today.
00:09We have, lovely Helen Morgan.
00:11Hello Helen.
00:11Our North Shropshire MP.
00:14So what's the idea of the visit today then Helen, just to kind of see what's going on, what's happening here?
00:20Yeah, just to show some support really because Kate's done such a fabulous job in reinvigorating the market here.
00:25Getting lots of people to come shopping in Market Drayton on a Wednesday and on a Saturday morning.
00:30So I just really wanted to come along and show you my support and have a look around the stalls as well because they're excellent.
00:34And what have you thought of what you've seen? There's a nice range of stalls isn't there?
00:38Yeah, it's really lovely. It's got a really nice atmosphere.
00:41The traders are obviously doing well and they're enjoying working with each other.
00:46And it's just great to see so many people out and about in Market Drayton as well.
00:50And Kate, it draws people in from quite far afield doesn't it?
00:53I know myself, stopping someone on the street at one of the markets,
00:56they've come over from the black country to visit Market Drayton markets.
00:59That's a nice little pat on the back that you're doing something right isn't it?
01:02It is, it is.
01:03And it's growing as well, you've got new traders coming along.
01:07Yes, the street market on a Wednesday has increased hugely.
01:11And I've already got a new trader signed up who's trading here on the Artisan market
01:17and is now going to join us on the Wednesday street market.
01:20So I'm thrilled about that.
01:22Great stuff. Well I will let you continue shopping ladies.
01:25Thank you very much.
01:25Cheers.
01:28Hello Sally, you okay?
01:30I'm very well, thank you.
01:31Cool, so your business is The Yummy Box?
01:33Yes.
01:34And what do you do then? I think we're getting the gist of it, go on.
01:38I sell and make homemade chocolate truffles.
01:43Yeah.
01:43So I've got a big selection.
01:45And how long have you been involved with Market Drayton market?
01:49About a year and a half now.
01:51Yeah.
01:51I used to have a stall but because I'm ill I decided to have a table.
01:56Hence I've got over there, I've got a chocolate fountain.
01:59That looks good.
02:01That is for the brain tumour association because I've got a brain tumour.
02:04Oh wow.
02:05And they're very good in here so if I'm ill because of the tumour they let me have the
02:09time off because I can't be in.
02:11Yeah, yeah wow.
02:12So it's that kind of camaraderie of the market traders all coming.
02:16Everybody is here for everybody else and they're so nice to each other.
02:20It's a nice vibe isn't it when you walk around the market at Market Drayton.
02:23I am picking that up.
02:24Nice kind of feel to it you know.
02:26We also look out for each other and you know the chefs behind me have got my husband's
02:31phone number so if I have a seizure, if I have epilepsy, I'll phone my husband and they
02:37all look after me.
02:38Cool.
02:39So what would you recommend then if someone was coming?
02:41What's, you know, for yourself?
02:43I mean the passion fruit kind of gives me your air.
02:49These little purple.
02:50They look very cute, I have to admit.
02:52So my biggest seller is probably the Biscoffy Truffles or the Cinder Toffee, which I've
02:58got the Cinder Toffee bits and that was made yesterday, the Cinder Toffee.
03:06And my other biggest seller, my favourite is the Raspberry.
03:09Raspberry.
03:10Yeah.
03:10It's all good shouts.
03:11Get yourselves down guys, Raspberry's the word.
03:14Oh it's very yummy, that'll be a favourite.
03:16So who in the market do we find?
03:17Katie, hello.
03:18Hello.
03:19It's an usual name isn't it Katie?
03:21I like that.
03:22How long have you been trading here then?
03:24I've been trading here for about seven months maybe.
03:27Cool.
03:28And how old are you?
03:29Quite younger yeah?
03:29I'm 14.
03:3014 and a businesswoman already.
03:33So what's some of the stuff?
03:34Talk us through what you're selling.
03:36So over here are all my earrings.
03:39My business is called Charmed because I use Charmed with my earrings and everything else.
03:45And do you make these yourself then?
03:47Yes I do.
03:48Wow, okay.
03:49And then what are these over here, these colourful?
03:52Yeah.
03:52These are cotton roses.
03:55Cotton?
03:56Yes.
03:56Oh wow.
03:57So I use wax to dip them into.
04:00Yeah.
04:00And then add a bit of glitter on top of some of them.
04:04That's cool.
04:04And as well as trying to earn a few pounds, do you kind of like the buzz of the market,
04:09meeting people?
04:09Is that?
04:10Yes.
04:10Yeah yeah.
04:11So what would you like to kind of do when you're an old woman like I'm an old man?
04:15What would you like to be doing?
04:17When I'm older, I like to act and stuff.
04:21And I also like to make things.
04:23So sometimes I think of being a fashion designer to create dresses and stuff.
04:28Yeah, yeah.
04:29Sounds good.
04:29Well, good luck in that, Katie.
04:31And good luck with your stall.
04:35Hi.
04:36Well, let me introduce you to Sue.
04:38This is Helen Morgan, Longstropshire MP.
04:42Hello, Sue.
04:43What's your stall all about then, Sue?
04:44What have we got here?
04:45Um, everything is handmade.
04:47Yeah.
04:47And I've loved sewing all my life.
04:49OK.
04:49And it all started really with our youngest granddaughter, who now is 15,
04:55with name bunting that I did.
04:57And it's just grown from there.
04:58Ah.
04:59Um, we're doing quite a lot of bespoke bunting and name bunting.
05:04Um, this is one of the...
05:08Ah, that's great.
05:10Have you got a Helen?
05:11Yeah.
05:11Or a Morgan?
05:12Um, but it's all different colours and everything else.
05:16Yeah.
05:16And then it went on to name cushions.
05:18Oh, that's pretty.
05:19And then decorative cushions and all different decorative bunting.
05:22That's another one that we're doing.
05:24Oh, that's cool.
05:25Yeah, they are.
05:25They're delightful.
05:27Do you hand make them all yourself?
05:28I hand make everything that's on the stall.
05:30Wow.
05:30That's incredible.
05:31Um, but we don't sell on a website, because a lot of the bunting we do is universal.
05:35We didn't want people to copy.
05:37So I do about six artisan markets a month, and it's all I can do to keep up with that.
05:42I just love selling.
