00:00It's been announced that the Aga Khan's funeral will take place in Lisbon on Saturday.
00:06And just before we crossed you, I was reading a tribute to the Aga Khan that you yourself
00:10wrote.
00:11You described him as having been a hero of yours, and I was wondering why that was.
00:15Well, I've been a huge admirer of his work for many, many years.
00:20I mean, what is there not to admire?
00:23He was one of the greatest statesmen of our time.
00:28Yet he had no state, he had no land, no government, no army, yet he had this incredible influence
00:36and goodwill all around the world.
00:39He was a master diplomat, built up relationships with heads of state, heads of government,
00:46with our own king.
00:47He'd be as comfortable in the White House as he would in a village in the Himalayas
00:53with a member of his community.
00:55And he built this incredible development network, which is unlike any other international
01:02organization and benefits millions of people every single day, not from within his community,
01:09but everyone across the developing world.
01:12And the sort of things that they deliver, hospitals, schools, microfinance programs,
01:17universities, these are world class.
01:20So they're not sort of low budget projects in developing countries.
01:24These are world class institutions.
