00:00The six elements of the periodic table of the elements are down there.

00:05They are part of the group of lanthanides.

00:07There is the nitrile, the europium, the scandium, the gadolinium, the samarium.

00:13And those elements today are highly demanded by the high-tech industry,

00:19by the rocket industry, by the telecommunications industry, by the armament industry.

00:27They are among the elements that today have higher values than the international markets.

00:31That is why the countries that have bauxites are exploring the content of any of those elements

00:38that may be present there.

00:40And that is the case of the Dominican Republic,

00:42where the Dominican government, led by the US government,

00:47has been exploring in the last three or four years

00:50the different chemical elements that are present in the bauxites of the Mercedes,

00:57of the Aceitillad and of the Turco.

00:59That is in the Sierra de Bauruco, in the upper part,

01:02going up from Cabo Rojo or going up from Pedernales.

01:06And there have been identified important volumes that are being evaluated today.

01:11The expectations that the Dominican government and the Dominican society have

01:15is to be able to find an important volume of proven reserves

01:20that allow those materials to be extracted and placed in the market,

01:24as China does, as other countries in the world do,

01:27which have high volumes of rare earth elements.

01:31Hopefully the General Directorate of Mining, the Ministry of Energy and Mining,

01:35and the central government will continue to make efforts to quantify

01:40the volume of proven reserves that are there in the Sierra de Bauruco

01:46and that these materials can be extracted to support the international technological industry,

01:52but at the same time to support the national budget,

01:56because those elements of rare earth today are highly priced in international markets

02:02and any of the countries that have important reserves of these materials,

02:07have great economic benefits that can be invested in multiple development programs in the country.
