00:00Look, I've been trying to do a bunch of new things lately, and this song severely inspires me."
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we'll be counting down our picks for characters
00:09on Disney TV shows and movies who give us second-hand embarrassment,
00:14whether because of their actions, bad jokes, or just plain awkwardness.
00:1810. Mitchie Torres – Camp Rock
00:38We've all wanted acceptance and popularity at some point,
00:42but lying is not the way to get it. Camp Rock is centered around Mitchie Torres,
00:47a singer whose mom is hired to cater food for a music camp.
00:51This means Mitchie can attend Camp Rock at a discounted fee.
00:55But when she sees how wealthy the other campers are, she builds a web of lies in order to fit in.
01:01Is your dad Nicky Torres the composer?
01:03My dad staged one of his shows.
01:05No. So what does he do?
01:08He owns a hardware store.
01:13But my mom…
01:14Yeah? What?
01:17Uh, the president… of Cartoon City.
01:21Mitchie's cringe factor comes from being ashamed of her working-class family,
01:25and embarrassed by her mom's job rather than proud of her.
01:29She also called someone's bracelet totally blingalicious as a compliment,
01:33and that is unforgivable.
01:36Totally blingalicious.
01:389. Corey Matthews – Boy Meets World
01:42Hello. See, this isn't really your nose, it's my thumb in here.
01:51Being a main character is a hard job.
01:53Viewers followed the trials of average kid Corey Matthews and his friends
01:57from their middle school years all the way through college.
02:00But one thing that never changed was Corey's often selfish behavior.
02:04Sometimes protagonists get cringey because, well, the writing is centered around them.
02:09And Corey was no exception.
02:11Corey Matthews, a parent's worst nightmare.
02:14Lock up your daughters, the hormones will be a-flying tonight.
02:19You believe me?
02:20No, but you're very sweet.
02:22He could be stubborn and lazy, he was always cutting corners,
02:26and he wasn't empathetic to his friends and family.
02:29And his constant need to quip, snark, or complain about almost everything
02:34seemed to get worse with age.
02:35We love you, Cor, but in hindsight, can you be a bit less whiny?
02:40Number 8. Virgil Fox – Minutemen
02:43Yes, the incident I will one day be explaining to a very expensive therapist.
02:48Being a time traveler while in high school can definitely get you bragging rights,
02:52but not a free pass to be a jerk.
02:55In this 2008 Disney Channel original movie, a trio of outcasts, Virgil, Zeke, and Charlie,
03:02use a time machine of Charlie's design to undo a life-changing embarrassment
03:06from their freshman year.
03:07Charlie advises them to keep their time-hopping to a minimum,
03:11but Virgil selfishly ignores his warnings.
03:15Did you-
03:19Hello?!
03:20Vortex?!
03:21He could die!
03:22You were okay with me going in there, what-
03:25Even as they're being pursued by the FBI,
03:27Virgil's priority is getting rich and becoming popular.
03:31Dropping your friends for such shallow reasons is extremely cringe,
03:35and Virgil's not even the one who built the time machine in the first place.
03:39Why don't you just go home to your computer and your cat?
03:42Good luck on your new life as a popular person.
03:46Number 7. London Tipton – The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck
03:53Ten dollars is not enough to open up a store!
03:56I know, but the ten dollars was wrapped around a diamond the size of a potato,
04:01and I'm gonna use my potato diamond to open up my business.
04:06On both Suite Life shows, the spoiled London Tipton wandered around her dad's hotel
04:12and always had something goofy to say.
04:14But when a ditzy character is too ditzy, they can really make the audience cringe,
04:19and London is a perfect example.
04:21Ew! I don't even reuse my outfits!
04:24My motto is, wear it a day, throw it away!
04:27In addition to being shallow, London acts so foolishly that it seems like
04:32she would be a danger to herself and those around her.
04:35From the Prindle moment during her driving lesson, to her constant focus on clothes,
04:40to never understanding her own wealth,
04:42London's characterization makes her annoying rather than funny.
04:46I'm gonna put purses over here and matching belts over there.
04:49Ah, and do you have a business plan?
04:52Are you listening?
04:54I'm gonna put purses over here and matching belts over there.
04:57Number 6. Beans Aaron Guren – Even Stevens
05:01Thanks. I've got skills.
05:05Yeah. What's your name, kid?
05:10Bernard.
05:12Bernard. I don't like it.
05:15Me neither.
05:16Did you have an annoying younger neighbor who wouldn't leave you and your friends alone?
05:20Well, was he as cringe-inducing as Beans?
05:22On this early 2000s sitcom, the character of Beans
05:26falls into the much-disliked category of weird nosy neighbor.
05:30Beans was younger than main characters Lewis and Wren and was always hanging around,
05:36often entering the Stevens family house whenever he wanted and acting like he owned the place.
05:41Yeah! Bring on the babes!
05:44Babes! Babes! Babes!
05:46Great news! My mom said I can stay here as long as I want!
05:50How did you get past the electric fence?
05:53Lewis yelling at Beans to leave practically became a catchphrase.
05:57Rather than coming across as quirky or precocious, Beans was downright irritating.
06:02Wanna hear a joke?
06:04Okay, there's a pirate on the ship, and the ship was a-rockin' and a-rollin',
06:09and I fell off my ship, and a killer whale came and bit off me!
06:13Number 5. Jessie Prescod – Jessie
06:18Now remember, Zuri, there's nothing to be afraid of.
06:21I'll remember.
06:22Remember, Jessie, you've gotta face up to your fears.
06:30The last thing you want a nanny to be is irresponsible.
06:33Unfortunately, Jessie Prescod makes this list because she's as immature as the kids she looks
06:39after. The show follows Jessie after she leaves her strict upbringing in small-town Texas
06:45to chase her dreams in the Big Apple.
06:47See you on set!
06:48Right, got it, on set.
06:52I'm gonna be on set!
06:54Jessie, are you crazy? You're not a stuntwoman!
06:56I wasn't a nanny either, but that didn't stop me.
07:00She ends up working as a nanny for the very rich Ross family, and caring for their poor kids.
07:06But instead of growing from the experience, Jessie practically does the opposite.
07:10Much of the sitcom's cringe comes from Jessie pushing her duties onto others,
07:15or never facing consequences for her actions.
07:18But there's one thing I can't do.
07:20What?
07:21This.
07:23And this.
07:26And this.
07:29And C.
07:31You bruised my business.
07:34Number 4.
07:36Lizzie McGuire.
07:37Lizzie McGuire.
07:38Lizzie, tell me the truth.
07:45I want a bra, okay? A bra! A bra-wee!
07:49I want a bra! I want a bra! A bra!
07:53Pitfalls and pratfalls are inevitable when you're entering your teen years,
07:57but it seemed like Lizzie had more than most.
08:00Throughout the show's run, the escapades of 13-year-old Lizzie McGuire,
08:04and her adorable animated self, often made us cringe all the way into our couches.
08:09Way to go, graceful.
08:11You talking to me?
08:13Who do you think you are?
08:14Not a dorko like you.
08:16I don't think so.
08:19Bra!
08:23There was plenty of standard awkwardness,
08:26including kooky schemes, coming-of-age moments, or the famous,
08:29I want a bra scene.
08:30But somehow, Lizzie even made a rhythmic gymnastics routine into something cringe,
08:36even though actress Hilary Duff had actual experience in the sport.
08:40When the spotlight lands on you,
08:45Suddenly you stop,
08:47And it's your life-
08:49Number 3. Tess Tyler, Camp Rock.
08:52Oh, hi. I'm Tess Tyler.
08:56I know. Wow, I love your mom.
08:59Of course you do.
09:00There's nothing more cringe than being a mean girl.
09:03Tess Tyler is the villain of the day,
09:05and she is definitely mean.
09:08While protagonist Mitchie is from a working-class background,
09:11Tess comes from money like many of the other campers.
09:14But unlike those other campers,
09:16Tess uses her clout against Mitchie at every opportunity.
09:20You don't misunderstand, but I'm too cool
09:24I'm too cute, I'm too cool
09:27I know you don't get it, but I'm too cool
09:31I'm too cute, I'm too cool
09:34I know you don't get it
09:37She accuses Mitchie of stealing her charm bracelet despite knowing she didn't do it.
09:42Later, she twists the knife further by exposing Mitchie in front of everyone else at camp.
09:47You lied to everybody.
09:49No, I was-
09:50So she's what? A vice president? Treasurer?
09:54Tess.
09:55Shut up. Go on.
09:57She's even a jerk to sweet Caitlin.
09:59It costs zero dollars to be nice, Tess.
10:02Number two, Troy Bolton, the High School Musical franchise.
10:07Hey dad, what's up?
10:08Hey guys, happy new year.
10:10Yeah, it's gonna be a happy wildcat new year, man.
10:13You can bet we're going to include a certain singing basketball player on this list.
10:17For this entry, most of the cringe comes from main character Troy Bolton acting shallow.
10:22In High School Musical 2, Troy and his friends work at a country club over the summer,
10:26but he spends most of his time ignoring them so he can cozy up to wealthy patrons.
10:31Ooh, that looks great.
10:33Hey, I almost forgot.
10:35I wrote a Swiss on my burger.
10:36So go ahead and check it out, man. I'm trying.
10:38All right.
10:38See what you think.
10:39Table three needs more iced tea.
10:42No.
10:42Rotate your hands over the top.
10:44Later, he gives Gabriella a necklace with his own tea initial on it,
10:48even though they'd only been dating a short time.
10:50Talk about giving us the ick.
10:52Teas and Troy?
10:53What?
10:56Yeah.
10:56And let's just admit it,
10:58most of us have done a dramatic rendition of Troy's cringey dance running from Bet on It.
11:03Did you ever let go? Did you ever not know?
11:07I'm not gonna stop, that's who I am. I'll give it all I got, that is my plan.
11:14Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few dishonorable mentions.
11:19Stanley, That's So Raven, and Corey in the House.
11:23Because his obsessive crush on Raven is more annoying than precocious.
11:27Is that my woman? I love my ladies in red.
11:30Hey, hey, what are you doing here?
11:32My mama dropped me off. We both decided we needed some space.
11:36Loretta, Pixel Perfect, because her holographic dance moves are breathtakingly cringe.
11:54Spencer Walsh, Good Luck Charlie,
11:57because he never learns his lesson for cheating on his girlfriend.
12:01I want you to know how sorry I am about what happened. I made a huge mistake.
12:05Hanging out with Scarlett was the stupidest thing I've ever done.
12:09Teddy, you're the one I want to be with.
12:12Jennifer Stone, Cadet Kelly,
12:14because having a dance-off against the girl you bullied is weird.
12:23I am confident in its impurity. I am a voice, yet waiting to be heard.
12:29I'll shoot the shot, bang the jimmy around the world.

12:42or all of them. If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
12:481. Tara Adams, Radio Rebel
12:53If you're with me on this, we're red tomorrow. It'll be like saying that despite our differences,
12:59we're in this together. This next song is from Red Letter Day.
13:03You knew this one was coming. This Disney Channel original movie is centered around
13:08high school student Tara Adams, who is shy in real life but has a secret identity as Radio Rebel,
13:13Seattle's most well-known internet DJ. But her friends somehow have no idea about her double
13:19life. Perhaps the biggest cringe crime is that a high schooler has enough power to run a radio
13:24show that the whole city listens to. Check it out. Vibe it. Really, really dig on it.
13:30And then remember that feeling. Tomorrow at 8am, stop what you're doing, get up and dance. Just
13:37express yourself. Let yourself out. And of course, we can't discuss Tara without
13:41mentioning The Look. During the morphe held after their prom is cancelled,
13:45love interest Gavin sings a tune inspired by Tara. And they exchange a heated gaze that's
13:51supposed to be intense, but instead looks like someone failing at smizing. There's no excuse.
13:57Will you go to morphe with me?
14:01Yes.
14:03Did you look away to spare any of these characters the embarrassment?
14:06Let us know what made you cringe in the comments.
