00:00Hundreds of government officials from 40 countries

00:04gathered at the Open Government Partnership Asia and the Pacific Regional Meetings

00:10held today in the Philippines' capital.

00:14President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:17announced the progress of the movement that is emerging in the open government

00:22under the new Philippines.

00:24Claysel Fardinia is in the center of the news.

00:28Open and fair administration.

00:31That is the direction of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:36that he gave in the Open Government Partnership

00:39or OGP Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting today.

00:43The host in the OGP is the Philippines.

00:45International gathering and initiative that is far from transparent,

00:50accountable, and to ensure the government's service to the public.

00:55That is through the opening of the government's door

00:59to civil society groups,

01:01to the creation of policies, projects, and programs of the government.

01:06We want every budget allocation, policy decision, and program implementation

01:11to involve public participation.

01:14All in pursuit to the empowerment and to the upliftment of our people.

01:19Under the new Philippines,

01:21the executive branch of the government

01:25that is emerging in the open government

01:28includes the digitalization of government agencies

01:31to open the red tape,

01:33to eliminate the repeated expenses,

01:35to correct and improve the foundation of the government.

01:39The new Government Procurement Act was also enacted

01:42that obliges the public to provide information

01:45to the products or services that the government will buy

01:49to avoid corruption.

01:51Under Executive Order No. 31 of 2023,

01:55the institutionalization of the Philippine Open Government Partnership

02:00that supports open and responsible government

02:04and benefits the Philippine economy

02:07as the 13th in 100 countries leading

02:11when it comes to public participation in Southeast Asia.

02:16Through these efforts, we have been recognized globally.

02:20These initiatives stem from our belief that by creating spaces

02:24for civic engagement at all levels of our society,

02:27we can truly create transformative and impactful changes

02:31down to the grassroots level.

02:33The OJP will last until tomorrow.

02:36The 4,000 members of the government,

02:39leaders of civil society and policy makers

02:42from different parts of the world

02:45will attend high-level meetings, breakout sessions,

02:49and side events that address the economy,

02:52the fight against corruption, and digitalization.
