00:00Thank you for joining me for your latest update from the Met Office, got a bit of
00:04rain around today but once that's out of the way the rest of the week looks dry.
00:08The big picture from space shows a big stripe of clouds smothering the UK
00:13that's a weather front then there's loads of lumpy clouds out west there
00:17showers packing in this afternoon across Scotland and Northern Ireland down to
00:21the far southwest the skies are somewhat clearer that's thanks to this area of
00:25high pressure and that is going to move in slowly but surely over the next day
00:31or so but it's not with us yet right now we have this weather front that has been
00:35making for some pretty wet conditions this morning particularly in southwest
00:38Scotland but also the rain pepping up across Wales and southwest England
00:42slowly creeping eastward so turning soggier over northwest England and the
00:47Midlands through the afternoon much of East Anglia in the southeast will stay
00:51dry until evening time and clearer skies following to Scotland Northern
00:57Ireland but along with plenty of showers here much brighter though by the end of
01:01the afternoon for Wales southwest England and northwest England too as
01:04that rain kind of fizzles out a little bit as it tracks its way to the East
01:08Midlands but turning damp and drizzly here and across central southern England
01:12by the end of the day along with that rain band the winds will really pick up
01:15so a spell of gusty winds as that weather front moves in making it feel
01:19cooler than the thermometer would have you believe because actually quite mild
01:24for February double digits almost across the board but cooler air will follow in
01:28because it is a cold front which will track towards East Anglia in the
01:32southeast during the evening rush hour nothing too heavy but a bit damp and
01:35drizzly but should be out of the way by midnight then clearer skies follow for
01:39England and Wales generally a dry night long clear spells here maybe the odd
01:43shower for South Wales and western parts of England quite a few showers will
01:47continue to come into western Scotland parts of Northern Ireland particularly
01:51on the north coast be some snow mixed in over some of the highest routes across
01:55Scotland as those showers zip through on a fairly brisk wind here although the
02:00winds will ease a bit it'll stay breezy enough to stop the temperatures falling
02:04too far overnight despite clear skies most towns and cities staying just a bit
02:08above freezing but certainly in rural parts we will see a touch of frost for
02:13Wednesday morning we should also see plenty of sunshine on Wednesday morning
02:16a cracking day for a good part of the country still on that westerly breezy
02:21odd shower for Wales southwest England's northwest England certainly showers will
02:25come and go through the day in western Scotland and for the north coast of
02:30Northern Ireland but a good part of the UK dry bright many of us just having a
02:34fine winter's day by the afternoon possibly one or two showers drifting in
02:38across other southern areas but as I say the vast majority dry and fine and sunny
02:43the winds lighter than today and easing off all the while temperatures bang
02:47average for the time of year 7 8 maybe 9 Celsius across the south after that
02:52chillier feel first thing it is going to get colder though in the outlook as we
02:57go through Wednesday evening any showers across the south fade away pretty
03:00rapidly even the showers in western Scotland tending to ease off but just a
03:05hint of blue on the chart they're suggesting we'll see frost forming more
03:09widely on Wednesday evening and a frosty old start to Thursday but there's
03:14that high pressure down to the southwest now sitting across the UK on Thursday
03:19bringing many places a fine and dry sunny day then it heads its way up
03:24towards Scandinavia and that allows something with easterly wind to pick up
03:29through Friday and into the weekend now that is going to bring a colder feel
03:33particularly to eastern parts and also still going to bring quite a lot of dry
03:38weather but we could start to see some showers which may have a wintry flavor
03:42across parts of the south and east but certainly likely to turn colder for all
