Transcript
00:00Recently, we did suffer a terror attack in this city and it changed not just the families
00:06that were tragically and horrifically lost their loved ones, but also the city, the state
00:11and the whole entirety of our country.
00:14This Super Bowl exemplifies how we come together to safeguard our traditions, how we come together
00:20to make sure that the public is well informed and gets the chance to celebrate something
00:23that's very special to us, to our culture, to our people and to our families, but we
00:28also do it in a way that is reactive to what we see as the current environment that we
00:32see in the world today.
00:34The world is a much more dangerous place, but here in the homeland, we are safe and
00:38I will tell you that right now, we have no specific credible threats to this event at
00:45the Super Bowl, which I think should give us all a sense of security, but also knowing
00:50that we will adjust that as needed.
00:53But today, there are no credible threats that we have that are on the radar for this event
00:57that is coming up on Sunday.
00:59Over the last two years, we've worked tirelessly to develop and refine all of our security
01:03plans and following the events on January 1, we came together with unwavering resolve
01:10to ensure that the people of New Orleans have a safe, supported and are here to fully enjoy
01:15the excitement of Super Bowl 59.
01:19And I am confident that the safest place to be this weekend will be in this areas around
01:25under the security umbrella that this team has put together.
01:28Naturally there's a question of whether we have made adjustments in our security plan
01:32in light of the events of January 1.
01:34And the answer is an unequivocal yes.
