00:00Hiya, I'm Harry Fuller and I'm a fine artist and printmaker living in Aberystwyth. I'm
00:09really excited to be taking part in Grill Cariad, celebrating love in Aberystwyth and
00:15for our exhibition we've done Love of the Sea and my work, which you can see here, are
00:21mostly screen prints and they all celebrate the beach but also the sadness about the beach
00:26waste we find along the coastlines so I take the beach waste home and photograph it and
00:31then turn them into brightly coloured screen print collages to try and raise some awareness
00:36and highlight how beautiful our beaches are and how we need to protect them. So really
00:42honoured and excited to be part of this festival and to be exhibiting alongside amazing other
00:47artists.
00:48I'm Sam Bedworth, I'm an illustrator and moved to Aberystwyth about a year ago and since
00:54moving I've loved the ocean and the sea and the whole Grill Cariad theme was love but
01:00also really fell in love with the wildlife and bird life that's around here so my project
01:08for this exhibition has been to showcase all the lovely birds that are in Aberystwyth
01:14and Ceredigion such as the starling murmuration and ring plovers in Innslas so that's my
01:22contribution to the love festival in Aber and I hope you all enjoy it.
01:28Hi my name's Roger Fuller, I live in Aberystwyth, I'm not from Aberystwyth but partly the sea
01:35has lured me here and I'm very happy to be here painting the coastline and the countryside
01:40of West Wales. I did a degree in Fine Arts a few years ago and it opened up a kind of
01:46like a tap of creativity and since then I've been painting from small size to large size
01:52mostly landscapes, I do the odd portrait but this has been a great opportunity for
01:56me to show my work in a really great venue in Aberystwyth with many other artists for
02:01this festival so yeah, thank you so much.
02:04Hello, I'm Esme and we are at Atra Lounge and these lovely people around me have been
02:11say spending the whole day setting up their amazing artworks for Grill Cariad which is
02:16an arts festival starting in Aberystwyth this year for the first time which is super exciting
02:22So we're doing our exhibition about our love of the sea because none of us are native to
02:28Aberystwyth, it's our first time ever living by the sea and we're all artists so we wanted
02:33to make artwork inspired by the incredible coastline we have around us. So yeah, I'm
02:38a printmaker, Roger's a painter and Sam's an illustrator so three different artist styles
02:45coming together to create our work.
02:47Yeah, for the festival and love was the theme and we love the sea and we love Aberystwyth
02:52and we love Atra Lounge.
02:54Yeah, we love you being here.
02:58Yeah, we feel very honoured to be included here and it's a great venue for us really.
03:02It's been really exciting all day.
03:04Yeah, it's been great.
03:0625th January the festival itself starts and there are 60 different artists I think involved
03:13or more and many, many venues across the town are opening their doors or setting up window
03:18displays or being part of what we hope will be a long running series of festivals. This
03:24is the pilot but we hope we can carry on.
03:26We're doing pretty good for a pilot.
03:28Yeah, for a pilot it's brilliant and two years' time is overwhelming.
