00:00Along with the Chinese New Year celebration,

00:02a fire broke out in a part of Binondo, Manila and Pasay City.

00:08Isaiah Meropuentes has the story.

00:12The supposed happy celebration of the Chinese New Year

00:15only lasted for a few hours,

00:16but in the end, it became a disaster.

00:20Because it was past 3 in the morning,

00:22a fire broke out in a unit on the 35th floor

00:26of one of the highest building condominiums in Binondo, Manila.

00:29What's more shocking is that two women were trapped in their sleeping quarters

00:33after a fire broke out 30 years ago.

00:36Both victims are relatives of the owner of the unit that was burned.

00:41According to the Bureau of Fire Protection,

00:43seven people were trapped because of the fire,

00:45but five were lucky enough to be rescued by the BFP.

00:49The two victims were actually sleeping in the room where the fire started.

00:54The fire only lasted for more than an hour.

00:57Some of the residents of the other unit

00:59only used the stairs to go down.

01:02According to a resident on the 38th floor of the condominium,

01:05it became difficult for them to escape.

01:08We only woke up in the basement of our door

01:12because we didn't know what was happening outside.

01:16When we opened the door,

01:19the fireman told us that we were already going down

01:22because there was a fire on the 35th floor.

01:25When we opened the door,

01:27we were already in the hallway.

01:29This condominium is located on the 55th floor.

01:32According to the BFP,

01:33the fire caused the unit to lose 4.5 million pesos.

01:37No other unit was affected

01:39except for the residents of the other unit.

01:41We would like to remind our countrymen

01:43to be careful of the unplugged electricity.

01:53If we don't have one,

01:54we will look for it so that there is no accident.

02:01Until now, the BFP is still investigating

02:14was burned down last night at 8 p.m.
