00:00and camera's running. Hello there, my name is Matt Brydon, I'm the manager of The Deco,
00:05a rock and metal pub in Southsea on Elm Grove, well known for its pint cocktails. We've just
00:11undergone a fairly extensive refurbishment and we're happy to open our doors to everyone from
00:16this weekend. Okay, so Matt, tell me about this refurbishment please. So a small team of just
00:21six of us undertook over a thousand hours of work between all of us to basically facelift the entire
00:28venue. Literally the only things we've left are the bar and the carpet. Okay, so these are the
00:33original counters as it were, from the restaurant back in the day? Yeah, from around 20 years ago.
00:38Okay, so everything else is new? Everything else, yep, new furniture, heated banquettes,
00:43the works, yeah. Finally giving the place the loving it deserves. So you're implying that it
00:50needed it, Matt? It very much did, yes. We had very much run it into, well close to the ground
00:56at one point. Furniture was in dire straits need of replacing. Okay, okay, so I mean you're opening
01:03up this weekend? Yes, well we've had our first day of the weekend yesterday, last night.
01:09What was the response like? It's been fantastic. Everyone's super happy to see it, you know,
01:14having a new lease of life and really embracing what it is. Okay, okay, and how does that feel
01:18for you? It feels fantastic. It's so nice to have a place where, you know, everything works. It's
01:24all in one piece. Lots of work and it's all come back together. Indeed, it very much feels that
01:29it was worth the work. Great, thanks very much for speaking to the news. No problem, thank you for coming.
