00:03the Central Bank of the Philippines also reminded the consumers' responsibility

00:08to protect themselves against financial scams.

00:12The PIA SOC Sergeant Leanne Twinkle Bolongan has the details of the country's news.

00:19The Central Bank of the Philippines, or BSP,

00:23also encouraged the promotion of digital financial literacy

00:26to guide its financial consumers or clients

00:29to fight various types of financial scams.

00:32According to Zerina Aligsao, Acting Area Director of the BSP Cotabato Branch,

00:37it is important for every financial consumer to take care of the so-called digital footprint

00:42that includes their online activities,

00:44such as personal data, browsing history, cell phone number, and other personal information.

00:50Consumer protection is a shared responsibility

00:53not only for the Central Bank of the Philippines, but also for the consumers.

00:57On the side of the Central Bank of the Philippines,

00:59we have Financial Consumer Protection Act,

01:03we have immediate information sessions to learn more about how to protect yourself online.

01:09For the side of our consumers,

01:12not only do you defend the Central Bank of the Philippines

01:14for addressing scams or fraud at the level we should,

01:19we should also protect ourselves.

01:22It is important for everyone to take care of their personal data

01:25because this is what scammers usually use to scam people online.

01:30In this digital era of scamming,

01:33we should also be updated and aware of the latest trends

01:38so that we can avoid being scammed.

01:40We can check or monitor any tips

01:45that the BSP gives us.

01:48According to the BSP, they are also helping and promoting

01:52cyber security hygiene practices

01:55under the guidance of the public

01:57in connecting to public Wi-Fi

01:59or opening online transactions using the internet.
