00:00Just like other national sports associations in the country,

00:03the Wushu Federation of the Philippines is one of the groups

00:07that will strengthen their sport this year using the grassroots program.

00:11For more details, here is the report of teammate Paolo Salamatin.

00:17The Wushu Federation of the Philippines has a big plan to expand their sport in the whole country

00:23because they want it to be included in the regular leagues played by the prominent collegiate leagues in the country,

00:29such as UAAP and NCAA.

00:32In an effort to gain support from officials of the Wushu Federation and NCAA last year,

00:38the Wushu sport was chosen as the demonstration sport in the 100th season of the NCAA.

00:46In the PTV Sports interview, Wushu Federation Secretary General Julian Camacho

00:52shared their additional plans for Wushu to become an official sport in the NCAA next year.

00:59Actually, last year, end of last year, we have just concluded our cooperation between the NCAA and Wushu.

01:11We are going to start the exhibition team in every NCAA school.

01:19I think they have 10 schools from there.

01:25This recognition proves the popularity of Wushu as a competitive sport in the country

01:32that meets the goals of the NCAA to introduce different disciplines of strength to its members.

01:39We are okay with the NCAA. Our next target is UAAP.

01:45Actually, in UAAP, our school is based on chapters.

01:50In the NCAA, we have Wushu chapters. In the NCAEA, we have in UP, we have in LaSalle.

01:58I think they have four or five schools.

02:11They will consider the spots to be joined.

02:16The inclusion of Wushu in a prestigious organization like the NCAA

02:21will continue its possibility of being a mainstay in the collegiate leagues

02:25and in the continuation of the WFP, which will expand Wushu to the whole country.
