00:00Global tourism has recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the United Nations.

00:06Has tourism also recovered here in the Philippines?

00:09Niko Wahe is a witness.

00:14Travel is life for BFFs like Miggy and Nick.

00:18In their last year of friendship, they witnessed the beautiful scenery in the Philippines and abroad.

00:25It's true that friends that travel together, stay together.

00:30Traveling somehow relaxes me from my work.

00:34And I feel like I'm healing my inner child.

00:38Their friendship was even more strengthened when they went abroad after the COVID-19 pandemic.

00:44There are lots of plans that were cancelled because of the pandemic.

00:48So right after that, I can say that we will travel for the following years.

00:54And it looks like the whole world is working hard to make money after the pandemic.

00:59According to UN Tourism, global tourism has recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic.

01:051.4 billion international tourist arrivals were recorded worldwide in 2024.

01:1111% more than 1.3 billion in 2023.

01:16In Europe, 747 million international arrivals were recorded.

01:215% more than last year.

01:24And 1% more than 2019.

01:27Asia Pacific is also slowly recovering.

01:30316 million landed here in 2024.

01:34That's only 87% of the total number of tourists in 2019.

01:39In the Philippines, tourism is also recovering.

01:42According to the Department of Tourism, 5.9 million tourist arrivals in 2024.

01:48Although the number of tourists arriving in the country in 2019 has not yet reached,

01:53the quality of the visitors that were given to us is high.

01:56They spent over Php 700 billion.

02:01So in 2019, I think they only spent Php 600 billion.

02:06So that for me is already a very good news.

02:10In the end, because that's what really drives our economy.

02:14What is moving now is our fellow countrymen.

02:17According to the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department of the House of Representatives in 2023,

02:2348.52 million domestic tourists overnighted in different parts of the country.

02:29That's higher than 46.38 million in 2019.

02:33According to the PTAA, they felt that last year.

02:37We had the Travel Tour Expo last year.

02:40We had over 100,000 people who visited us in February.

02:45With that, we saw that revenge travel was real.

02:49Because we had over 800 exhibitors and they were all very happy.

02:54They are hoping that more people will go to their Travel Expo this year, which will take place from February 7 to 9.

03:01If you really deserve to travel because you worked hard to pay for it.

03:07If you want to travel, book it now. Don't wait for two days.
