00:00The Comelec is worried that the target date may not be reached for the imprinting of more than 70 million balotas that will be used in the election of 2025.

00:12Just a few hours after they showed the new look of the balota, it needs to be reprinted because of the new TRO issued by the Supreme Court against disqualifying some aspirants.

00:27Sandra Aguinaldo is on the line.

00:31A temporary restraining order from the Supreme Court was obtained by vlogger and senatorial aspirant Francis Leo Marcos.

00:40This was followed by his petition to stop the Comelec from declaring him a nuisance candidate.

00:47The TRO also obtained from the Supreme Court the former alibi of Governor Noel Rosal and the former Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortez, both of whom were cancelled by the Comelec, the COC.

00:58These TROs, they enjoin or prevent the Comelec from implementing the resolutions considering the candidates are either disqualified or a nuisance candidate.

01:09So that means they have to be included in the ballot.

01:12The Comelec said that they will follow the orders of the Supreme Court.

01:16They need two to three days to add Rosal and Marcos to the balota.

01:22This week is very crucial because this week is the start of the Comelec printing of balota.

01:29Again, we are committing, we are promising that the Comelec will always comply at this point with the Supreme Court directive.

01:39But the Supreme Court said that there are other evidences like the petition that they are defending.

01:45Twenty-five petitions have been filed in the national and local positions and twenty-two in the party list.

01:51The TRO of the Supreme Court has not been released yet.

01:53Before the TRO of the Supreme Court was released, the Comelec showed the new ballot phase to the media.

01:59It includes a senatorial aspirant and eight local aspirants who were first added to the balota after they obtained the TRO from the Supreme Court.

02:09In the list of senatorial aspirants, Chavit Singso withdrew from the race.

02:15Subair Gintom Mustafa was added to the balota.

02:18That's why some other aspirants were added to the balota.

02:22We added Ms. Mustafa.

02:24The first to be added were Olivar, Ong, Pacquiao, Pangilinan, Kerubin, Ibuloy, Ramos, Revillame Rodriguez, Sahidula and Salvador.

02:37They did not move after that because we withdrew them because of the withdrawal of Singso.

02:43The Comelec hopes to print the balota again tomorrow, but it's possible to do it on Friday.

02:50In each ballot that will be printed in the balota, the database of aspirants must be changed,

02:55serialization of each balota must be done and more than 1,600 ballot phases must be made,

03:02a process that takes two to three days.

03:05The Comelec is suspicious that they might not be able to meet their target of April 14 to finish the printing of 73 million balotas.

03:15It's even possible that they will produce 1.5 million ballots per day.

03:21They are confident that their deployment will not be affected and that it will be used for other purposes in the election.

03:27There is no effect on the day of the election.

03:29The Comelec should have distributed all the election paraphernalia to the entire Philippines two weeks before the election.

03:38Why? Because we have final testing and sealing one week before the election.

03:43According to the Supreme Court, they consider the effect of the TRO on the printing of balotas.

03:50The court does consider the printing of the ballots of course, but then it did remind the Comelec in the case of Marquez

03:58the case decided earlier that the Comelec should also be aware that in disqualifying candidates,

04:06there is a big chance that these candidates are going to be bringing the issue before the Supreme Court

04:12and that the Supreme Court would need time to actually resolve their cases.
