00:00I think it opened at one and a half.
00:01Yeah, well, it opened at one, and you can get it
00:03some places at one and a half.
00:05I mean, I just think it's almost, to me, isn't it?
00:08And isn't it really a pick'em?
00:11Yeah.
00:12You know, when it's a number like that, one, one and a half,
00:15that, to me, feels like a pick'em.
00:17I'm like, I'm not the gambling expert.
00:20Yeah, I mean, that's kind of shifted
00:22where you no longer get three points for hosting the game.
00:29And then the other game, I think it's five and a half.
00:32Yeah, yeah, it opened at six, and now
00:35Philly's minus five and a half, which
00:39this will be the third time they'll be meeting this season.
00:43They split the two games, Philadelphia and Washington.
00:49I don't know, man.
00:50I'm telling you, Washington's good.
00:53Jaden Daniels is good.
00:55You know the other thing I really like about Jaden Daniels
00:57too, his ability to run.
01:00And they utilize him.
01:01Like, they utilize him as a runner.
01:05Well, it gives you a little glimpse
01:06into what the future can be here.
01:09Oh, yeah, yeah, for Drake May.
01:10And quick turnaround.
01:12Yeah, and that's the thing that I'm excited about when
01:16you start to look at.
01:18And it was interesting that you bring this up,
01:20because I would have loved to have been on this morning
01:23and talked to Boomer.
01:24Because there was one thing that stood out
01:26in the interview between you and him
01:28was the coaches with experience.
01:33And you're big on that.
01:34But he leaned towards what Ben Johnson, like,
01:38he gave him a pass.
01:39And I'm like, why?
01:41What makes Ben Johnson any different
01:45than any other coach that this is his first time
01:50with no experience?
01:52Because when you start to see what Dan Quinn is
01:55able to do at Washington, his second go around,
01:58it gives me good hope for Vrabel in his second go around.
02:04But then it gives me, it goes back
02:05to how successful are those first year head coaches that,
02:10you know, he brought up Aaron Glenn, who I was a teammate of.
02:14He obviously brought up Ben Johnson.
02:15But he made, he gave an exception for Ben Johnson.
02:18I'm like, well, what has Ben Johnson done
02:21besides being a knucklehead and running
02:23a reverse on the goal line, which lost you a bunch of yards?
02:26And then, you know, I'm kind of busting his balls a little bit.
02:29Well, that's who Scheim wanted, though.
02:30Right.
02:31But what has he done in that world of?
02:35Well, I just think it's the, I, you agree with it.
02:39So I won't, I stand in opposition to you
02:43when it comes to basically blowing off defense
02:48as a part of the NFL game at all.
02:51And the over-reliance on offense.
02:53Like, and I think that's what, that's why,
02:56like if you look at the Raiders and it seems like it's almost
03:00a done deal that he's going to be the next head coach there.
03:03Right.
03:04That, that to me is a risky proposition
03:07because you have so much to do with that football team.
03:10And so you got a guy who has no experience as a head coach
03:15that you're going to, he's got to figure out
03:16who his quarterback is.
03:18Right.
03:19That organization needs an entire reboot.
03:22So that to me is why I'm not,
03:25I don't get that excited about Ben Johnson
03:27because he hasn't done it before, but.
03:28And to Greg's point, defense is so important
03:30because if you look at the games that happened
03:32this past weekend and you look at the most total yards
03:34in each of the matchup,
03:35the teams with the most total yards were the ones that lost.
03:38It was the teams that,
03:39that successfully benefited off turnovers.
03:43So it really was defense that won those games
03:45over the weekend.
03:46So Greg's right.
03:47People put too much of an emphasis on offense,
03:50but at the same time,
03:51when it comes to Scheim and his obsession with Ben Johnson,
03:55and I don't, I don't mean to speak for Scheim,
03:57but it did seem like he just wanted Ben Johnson
03:59to benefit Drake May.
04:01But I believe Mike Brable and I trust Mike Brable
04:03is going to put a perfect OC in place for Drake May.
04:06I also stand by that,
04:07that I believe that it is Josh McDaniels
04:09and it's already been decided weeks ago,
04:11even though he's interviewing other people.
04:12Well, but the thing about when you start to look at it
04:15and I, and I agree, like, you know,
04:17it's cool, like defense,
04:19you need them to be opportunistic and make plays.
04:22But when you look at all these games over the weekends,
04:25I mean, think about it.
04:26Josh Allen, it's Lamar Jackson, it's Patrick Mahomes,
04:30it's CJ Stroud, even Jaden Daniels,
04:33like you need, it's about your offense.
04:36It's about your offensive line.
04:38Like when you look at the Eagles,
04:40like that line is hitting, as you would say.
04:44And so, and that's been an issue here for quite some time.
04:49Right, but when you look at the Washington Commanders,
04:52at the start of the season, your offense,
04:55and I get it's just projection,
04:56at the start of the season,
04:57you had a better offensive line, just projection.
05:00And I get you got, you need to get guys in free agency
05:05and off, but it's really about,
05:08okay, if you have an average offensive line
05:11or a little bit above average,
05:13and then you have quarterbacks that can make plays,
05:16you have talented, you know, wide receivers,
05:18you have talent, like Philadelphia,
05:20they have a great, they have a good offensive line.
05:24But how much of that is you have Saquon, right?
05:30You have, look at what he's been able to do
05:34for that organization.
05:37And he was a guy that was available,
05:39same with Derrick Henry and what he's been able to do.
05:43You start to look at the offenses.
05:46And that's why when I look at Vrabel,
05:47I look at it more of the blueprint of like the commanders.
05:51You have the young, talented,
05:54it looks like quarterback franchise kid in Drake May,
06:00build around him, get him pieces.
06:03And then maybe your defense might not be like as good,
06:08but as long as you're coached well enough
06:10where you're able to make those opportunistic plays
06:13and create turnovers or get sacks,
06:15like look at the Rams defense, you know,
06:19they're able to get sacks,
06:20they're able to put pressure on the quarterback.
06:22Like, so if you're able to do some of those things
06:24and you got that type of offense,
06:26you're right back in the mix.
06:28I mean, right back in the mix of things.
06:32I need Buffalo to go out there and win that game.
06:34Yeah, it's gonna be tough though.
06:36It is Buffalo against everybody,
06:38but it's Mahomes is just so,
06:40did you see that touchdown pass he threw to Kelly?
06:42He's falling down.
06:44He is so good.
06:47And-
06:48I also don't think it's Buffalo against everybody.
06:50I think most people want Buffalo to win.
06:51I think it's Kansas City against everybody right now.
06:54I'm talking about the referees, right?
06:56But Mahomes is so good.
06:58Like, and so even if the refs help them a little bit,
07:02you gotta then make sure like,
07:04Kelsey can't be in the middle of the field
07:06wide open by himself
07:07because Mahomes is gonna make so many plays.
07:10He's just, he's so good at being able to extend plays
07:14and make things happen.
07:16And that's why, listen, I think Josh McDaniel,
07:20Josh Allen is playing tremendous,
07:23but I ain't, like I told you,
07:25I'm not betting against Mahomes
07:26because I know one guy can do it.
07:28And the other one hasn't proven yet.
07:31Even, you brought up Boomer's point, right?
07:34The throw, maybe it's a little bit off
07:38that he throws to Mark Andrews,
07:39but Mark Andrews still gotta catch it.
07:41And part of it is because all that pressure's on the line.
07:45Guys, a guy like Mahomes doesn't do that.
07:49And until you can beat Mahomes,
07:51I wouldn't bet against them.
07:53I, you know, I just, I'm not gonna do it.
07:57But it's gonna be infuriating if there's more of the same
08:02when it comes to giving them every single call.
08:04Yeah, that's gonna be part of it.
08:07You already know you're getting,
08:08they're gonna get at least one rough in the passer call
08:13that you're like, I don't really know about that one.
08:17Like, what's going on?
08:18So you know he's gonna do that.
08:19You know he's gonna flop.
08:20You know he's gonna do those things.
08:22Boomer talked about it.
08:23And so you, as a defense, you gotta try your best.
08:28And I know it's difficult to, when the ball's released,
08:32try your best not to even touch him after he throws it.
08:35But you're gonna have to be able to overcome those things.
08:38That's what Bill would tell us.
08:40Hey, we're gonna have to overcome those things.
08:42We're gonna have to make sure
08:43that we're doing all the things that we need to do
08:46to be able to overcome those things.
08:48It's gonna be a great, I think it's,
08:51I think it's a perfect matchup.
08:53I wonder what most people wanted to see.
08:57What, what they wanted to see with these four teams?
08:59No, did you want to see Bill's Chiefs or Bill's Ravens?
09:03I wanted to see Bill's Chiefs
09:05because I think Josh Allen gives,
09:08I'm no, you know, Shyam loves Lamar as do you.
09:12I just think Josh Allen gives them a better chance.
09:14It gives somebody a better chance
09:16of beating the Kansas City Chiefs.
09:18Okay.
09:19Courtney?
09:20Yeah, I wanted Bill's Chiefs, yeah.
09:20All right.
09:21I can rock with that.
09:23I can rock with that.
09:23Why you wanted Ravens Chiefs?
09:25No, no, I think that offensively,
09:29the only issue that the Ravens give a little bit more
09:34than the Bills is because of the Derrick Henry factor.
09:38You know what I mean?
09:39I know James Cook is good, but the rushing edge,
09:44you know, the running attack is a little,
09:45but I think, you know, it's,
09:50Boomer said that Lamar MVP,
09:53and I probably agree with him,
09:58but Josh Allen's good, man.
09:59I don't know.
10:00Well, I think you have to give it to Lamar though,
10:02because when he dominated in both phases
10:05of the game, offense-wise,
10:07throwing the ball and running the ball.
10:08I mean, I, like, I think-
10:10Right, but he, he didn't make the,
10:12it's, it's interesting because I feel like-
10:15They lead the league at both
10:17when it comes to yards per play.
10:19Right, but he didn't make,
10:21Josh Allen didn't make the mistake,
10:24that Lamar made when it came to the interception
10:26and being sloppy with the football.
10:28Yeah, but that game doesn't matter.
10:29Like, that game, playoffs don't figure
10:30when it comes to MVP.
10:31Right, so, no, no, what I'm saying is,
10:33I don't think Josh Allen does that against the Chiefs.
10:36Lamar still has that, that,
10:39that window of making some of those sloppy mistakes
10:44where Josh Allen has cleaned up on that.
10:46Like, that used to be Josh Allen, like, you know,
10:49trying to force balls in it.
10:50And I think that's the edge that Josh Allen has
10:54that gives the Bills a little bit better chance to win
10:58if it was, rather than Baltimore,
11:01because Josh is not making some of those same bad decisions.
11:05Also, this argument that the same was true for Tom Brady
11:09when it came to getting the calls
11:11that Mahomes is getting, I don't agree with.
11:13I agree with that.
11:14You do? Yeah, I think, you know,
11:15I think Brady had that-
11:17It wasn't as egregious, and Tom, there's no way,
11:21Tom Brady never flopped.
11:22Like, I'm sorry, I will-
11:24He didn't run like-
11:25I will play the role of Chris Curtis right now
11:27since he's not here today.
11:28Tom Brady was not, like, wasn't diving, you know,
11:32into the bench to try to get a call.
11:35Like, give me a break.
11:36But he didn't run, like, Brady didn't run like Josh,
11:40I mean, not Josh, but Patrick Mahomes.
11:43But Brady still got the calls,
11:44and there are plenty of people throughout the country
11:48that would look at New England and go,
11:51oh, it's New England's get the calls,
11:52Brady get, you get near him,
11:53it's a penalty, that kind of, so,
11:55I mean, that's, you know, that's par for the course.
11:57I get it, when we were dominating,
11:59and you got a guy like Brady,
12:01I mean, Boomer doesn't like it,
12:03but that's kind of how the league works, right?
