00:00Well you know for sure I'm happy that I I played in an efficient way and I felt
00:09pretty confident so you know from the beginning I just pushed and I knew that
00:13I can make an impact with that questions in terms of playing night session
00:22matches or at least this night session match was it markedly different other
00:26players I've said it tonight it's literally night and day playing on that
00:30court in terms of court speed and everything well how did you find the
00:33conditions honestly it's hard to say because it also depends on the opponent
00:38the pace was a little bit different for sure today but yeah I had to say it was
00:42a court or just our pace you know how we played but for sure it's a it's a bit
00:48different but still was super hot today anyway so the court I felt like it still
00:54has the heat you know the so so yeah I guess I'll see but it's more about you
01:01know the routine before I would say and on court I feel like I can adjust to
01:06anything I'm going to ask after your match water release that you know that
01:13you saying that they're not going to appeal your case I know you said at the
01:17United Cup that you weren't worried about it but do you feel a sense of
01:20relief now knowing well for sure I'm just satisfied you know that I can get a
01:26closure kind of and I can just move on and like finish this this whole process
01:32because you know I just want to play tennis and focus on the tournament so
01:38so yeah I'm just satisfied your 87th bagel in your career my question is how
01:48are you able to look so dominant into the court and after to score a bagel how
01:53do you manage to not relax because we've seen on many many players when you're
01:58winning not you like when the players are winning by far maybe they get a
02:03little bit relaxed but that is not happening with you like never well I'm
02:08aware that this can happen so I'm just trying to react before and not wait for
02:15my mind to like go to some different places because I'm winning too easy you
02:21know I don't know and also I kind of always respect the opponent and just
02:27want to win more and more and trying not to change my intensity and the way I
02:32play because of the score you know I try to do the same even when I'm losing so
02:36I'm just trying to be consistent with this and always have like the same
02:40mindset obviously it's not easy to do that but like managing this mentality
02:47and overall what I think on court is a key for me so I always did that and I'll
02:52do that in the future
02:56I just wanted to ask you, your rivalry with Savalenka has been the defining rivalry in the WCA over the last few years
03:05I just wondered like if you could talk about the experience of playing like how
03:10different her ball feels to other players, what kind of makes her such a difficult opponent?
03:17Well honestly I think we're the most consistent players on tour and this is also what the
03:23rivalry is about but when we face each other you know sometimes as it was in
03:29Cincinnati it goes to Arena sometimes like in Rome it goes to me it's not
03:33always like we have tight matches but we do like Madrid's final like US Open
03:40semis you know so so I guess you know we're just both good and I feel like we
03:48are covering every aspect of the game in terms of the preparation and really just
03:53we're really professional and and also pushing each other to work harder so so
03:59yeah it's I mean how does it feel like you have to just be be there like on
04:04point and hundred percent ready because I think top player is always hard so so
04:11yeah sorry what do you think is her best attribute? I don't know I feel like she has like a
04:22complete kind of technique like pretty smooth and she can she's just solid from
04:29every position on the court even like volleys and and stuff that we don't use
04:34like that often on singles but yeah I mean she has variety and she can play
04:41flat she can play topspin like basically I would say that Arena is like a kind of
04:47complete player. After you tested positive you said many times that you
04:54were worried people would see you differently and wouldn't look at you the
04:57same way after this this case. Are these worries behind you now and did you
05:02notice any difference in the reception you received from the crowd here in Melbourne?
05:07No I haven't I haven't noticed any difference I think anybody who like
05:13read the documents and know details about the case they understand and in
05:19the locker room has been also pretty pretty nice you know the girls are
05:24understanding and I mean I I kind of answered all of this at the beginning of
05:30the tournament so so yeah now for sure I just want to put it this behind me
05:36because I've already been on tour for quite a few weeks and it's all been good
05:41so I don't expect any changes and for sure I'm happy that people understand.
05:47Thank you. So next round you're going to play Emma so how do you see that the
05:53progress she has made maybe last year and what kind of a match are you
05:58expecting? I don't know what I'm expecting we kind of played in 2018 but
06:04like I'm not gonna count this so for sure I have to treat Emma as a player
06:10that I never played because she for sure has made like we both made a huge
06:14progress since that time that we face each other so so yeah I mean her her
06:20journey has been pretty pretty nice and amazing you know and I saw the US Open
06:27matches she she played really well and like fighting for every point and
06:30everything so I'll just prepare you know as before any other match for sure it's
06:36it's a bit different when you don't know the opponent that well when you haven't
06:41faced them like a lot of times but I don't mind like I'll just I'll just
06:46prepare and I'll be ready. Okay last few, Jermaine, then Courtney and then we'll finish with you.
06:52Emma has a very spinny forehand as you do too. I'm curious do you feel like
06:59there are more players on the tour with kind of spinnier forehands and that kind
07:02of technique I guess? You mean more than flat hit?
07:09More of them now than there was in the past. I don't know how was it how it was
07:18in the past for sure there was some time like I don't know like Naomi's kind of
07:25years where players played more flat out but I'm not sure because I was like
07:31what 50 then or something but now I mean yeah even like they say that Irina is
07:39heavy hitter but she spins the ball on the forehand as well so I guess most of
07:45us do that some a bit less some bit more but there are also flat players but yeah
07:52I mean I would say it's like 50-50. Courtney. At the start of the tournament you made the
07:59joke about your three-peat in the fourth round. Actually it was third
08:04because last year I was I mean I made a mistake because last year I was in third
08:08I thought it was at least a bit better. But in terms of making the quarterfinals
08:15at the Australian Open I mean is there a particular level of satisfaction that
08:20you feel? Yeah yeah there is there is for sure and you know and also about not
08:26only about the result itself also how I feel you know because it was always a
08:32struggle here so this year it's much more smooth and I feel like you know the
08:38work that I'm putting on the court is actually working on matches as well
08:41hopefully it's gonna stay like that so so just the whole process is much more
08:46much better I would say this year. Final question. Today your doping
08:53problem was always solved I heard so please tell us your impression. I'm just
09:00satisfied that I got a closure and I I kind of want to focus on the tournament
09:06already so so it's good that the process is over.
