00:00What would be your best advice to these players who are competing for the national championship?
00:06Oh, um, for the game? The game itself?
00:11Yeah! I mean, you've been there, you know what it's like.
00:14Do the little things well. If you do the little things well in game, it's going to take you so far.
00:22And what happens a lot of the time is, a lot of times, is we get in these big games and we feel like,
00:27I need to go be Superman. I need to go do everything. I need to make this miraculous, highlight,
00:32real style play, you know, and go save the day. And you don't need to be that, actually.
00:37You need to go tackle. You need to go catch the football when it's thrown to you.
00:41You need to know what to do, know your assignments. You need to run fast.
00:46You know, like all the basic, literally the basic things, that's what you need to do.
00:52You know, you need to take it back to the most basic fundamentals of football.
00:56And, you know, that's where, you know, I've seen teams, you know, just lose.
01:02I've seen players make mistakes, you know, is they get caught up in the moment.
01:06And they get caught up in trying to do too much. And you don't need to do too much.
01:10You know, when a quarterback hands football off to you as a running back, go get me at least four or five yards.
01:15And then everything else after that is icing on the cake.
01:17You know, when, as a punt returner, kick returner, I'm telling you things that I would think about.
01:21As a punt returner, kick returner, you know, go get 10 yards, you know,
01:26because that's 10 yards that your offense doesn't have to get, extra 10 yards the offense doesn't have to get, you know.
01:30And so it's just little things like that, those little messages.
01:35But, you know, that can't, that has to be messages that were consistent all year long, you know.
01:40And so what I've seen from both these teams is that they don't beat themselves.
01:46These are teams that they like to play ahead.
01:50And, you know, they're tough to beat, you know, and they don't make a lot of mistakes.
01:54So it's going to be such a good game.
